Swaimer looks like he came straight from the engine room of a WWII battleship. I wouldn't mess with him.

I missed the Svuem/umpire action. Did he go off pretty good??

Wood can still pitch be clearly tonight he didn't have it. At least he still has the fire unlike alot of these guys in pro sports just cashing a check.

Bottom line however is he needs work to get sharp given the few spring training innings and the DL stint. Frankly they should have sent him on a minor league rehab stint to get in a few innings.

He still throws mid 90's, has the cut fast ball and curve, but any big league pitcher needs work. I think he's pitched less than 20 innings including spring training all year.

Probably, considering he had only 3.1 innings going into tonight.

He has been as bad as marmol though this year. Neither can throw a strike to save their lives. He should have had some minor league innings before coming off the DL.

Marmol never had control. He was "effectively wild" before. Batters were scared to death he was gonna hit them in the head.

Maholm has really come around after a poor start to the season.

Maholm turns in #Cubs 19th quality start of the season. Starters have an ERA of 1.37 in their quality-start games

@DChomicz
@BruceMiles2112 What's their record when getting a quality start?

Bruce Miles ‏ @BruceMiles2112
@DChomicz 11-7 entering today

Ouch.

The starting pitching has really been impressive as of late. Its also nice to see the 2 guys who don't suck in the pen take care of business as they should.

Nice job to the Cubs for taking two out of three from the Braves.

From what I've seen of the Cubs this year, they could be much better than expected. Good starting pitching and some nice young players.
