I dont think he's Prior.

True. Prior actually had a pretty good year as a starter winning 18 games. Don't look like Sale will ever get that far in the rotation.

something else was wrong with prior. he broke down way too fast.

Not really when you consider the luck.

When he took that shot of the elbow in 2005 he was 4-1 with an ERA in the 2's

He was coming back healthy for the first time since the end of 03/begginning of 04 injury and he takes a 137mph shot off his pitching elbow.

That started the clock all over again

Terrible

Maybe so.

Its just people often say he was never the same after 03. I think he was all the way back in 06 before the elbow shot

As far as 04, I think it was a combo of him being the robot who always had to be 100% to pitch combined with the 250 innings he threw the year before (previous career high was like 100)

And dont forget, he appeared to be getting it back at the end of 04. His last two starts were 7ip 0ER against the Mets and 9 IP 16K's 1 Run against the Reds

Then 05 he started out dominanting like old. 4-1 with a 2.67 era when he got hit with the line drive.

After that he truly was never the same. He came back and ended up 11-7 with a 370 era but the dominance was gone.

Weird case.

Maybe he'll write a book someday.

There was something specific going on with Prior, IMO.

Yeah, nothing would surprise me

My main point is that he was back to his dominating self in 05 before the Hawpe shot

DYK: Brad Hawpe also homered off Mark Prior in the college WS giving him his only loss in at USC

Maybe pitch around him next time, huh?

I dont think North/Ozzie was staged. Maybe North made it a big thing, but It wasnt pre planned

Ive gone back and forth on if the Rome/Everett thing was staged. Why would Everett agree to that?

i have no doubt rome/everett was staged...i would bet everything i own on it..... why would everett agree? because they are buddies and it helped launch romes career it became national news quickly and drew tons of attention....kind of like having brooks boyer have guillen and north get some national news to draw sox attention...it worked both cases
