Fuck you Coop. Told you JORR.

I don't think there's any way in the world Cooper was going to make a unilateral decision like that.

To paraphrase the tough guy himself, "Weren't you listening?" Whoever first made the 'Alexander Haig' comparison should be given a laurel and hearty handshake.

I'm pretty sure Haig wasn't really in charge either.

Thank God sanity prevails. Sale back in the rotation and Addison Reed as the closer. It really shouldn't be that difficult.

No kidding .... thus the apt comparison ....

I am glad someone came to their senses in this whole deal. But the fact that this happened at all still amazes me and shows something is fucked up in this organization.

This move makes no fucking sense. If Sale really has a sore elbow then shut him down and build him back up. Pitching balls out and sporadically in the bullpen will not help heal his elbow. What's the life expectancy of a closer? A year? A year and half? He has no long term anymore. They keep him in the bullpen and he's done in 2 years if not sooner. You just got a shut down closer for a .500 team. Good call guys.

Assholes.

Took you awhile, but great to see you finally realize the Sox organization is a ship of fools.
Ventura has been made to look like an absolute tool in the Sale saga.

Start with Reinsdorf and his twisted sense of LOYALTY.

I really hate to bash the Sox but it just seems like they do everything wrong. Yesterday was a shit game in shit weather. By the eighth inning there were about 2000 people left in the park. Do you think they could hand out a voucher for a another ticket during the homestand to the people who stuck around in a 50 degree rainstorm to watch the great Luke Hochevar shutout the Sox? Of course not. And it isn't like they don't have empty seats. It would be a great gesture. But they can't do that.

Also, I met Frank Coztansa before the game. Frank is way cooler than he is on the board. And his fiance seems like a real sweetheart. So anyway, Frank texts me before the eighth and says he's heading down to the Bullpen Bar. My buddy and I go down there and we're greeted by an off-duty cop working for SDI who rudely says, "Bullpen's closed". I remembered why I hate the fucking Bertucci boys. They advertise that the bar is open until about an hour after the game but they shut it down during the game on a cold rainy night? Unbelievable! In the past they've sold me a giant Bomber beer and then had cops throw me out before I could reasonably drink it. Fuck the Bullpen Bar. And Fuck the Sox with their overbearing security presence. I don't feel like I'm in the middle of Beirut in any other sports venue in Chicago, but for some reason the Sox think it's good business to make their off-duty cop security obnoxiously obvious. It's the most fan-unfriendly thing I can think of.

Finally, this "dynamic" ticket pricing is going to alienate at least some fans. I don't want to hand you my $46 bucks back in January so some douchebag can sit two rows in front of me for $18 dollars on game day.

Are you listening, Uncle Jerry?????????

Yeah we got to the bullpen bar in the top of the 9th, got a beer, and they kicked us out right after the fireworks ended. Either don't advertise that it stays open an hour after the game, or give people 20 minutes after "last call" to finish the $8 beer they just got.

It was a nice little date night for me, but what a goddam waste of a game.

yeah. I went from a partial season ticket holder to not going to one game in 20 years. They can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.

Sometimes I feel like because there was one Ligue, they think the safe and smart way to go is to assume every fan is a Ligue. It's like if one guy shoplifted from your store and after that incident you followed every other customer around. I just don't think it's good business. Don't treat me like a fuckin' Ligue.

I'm sure there are more drunken incidents at Wrigley. I know they have to have as much security as the Sox- or at least I would assume they do- but it's much less obtrusive. I wouldn't have been nearly as angry if a cute young girl had been at the entrance to the Bullpen and smiled and said, "I'm sorry, we're closing early tonight." I still would have found it idiotic, but it probably wouldn't have enraged me.

You know, when I was much younger I got pulled over by an Evanston cop. My plate had expired the day before. I didn't have my insurance card with me. And I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. The cop didn't really want to write me tickets but he said, "Dude, you've just got too many things wrong." That's how I felt at that game last night. If it had been 80 degrees and sunny, I wouldn't have been angry about getting skunked by Hochevar and being refused entrance to the bar. If the Sox had pounded that turd like they should, I wouldn't have been pissed about not getting in and the rainy walk to Shinnick's would have been fine. If the Sox had been more fan-friendly, I wouldn't have walked away sour after a shitty loss in the rain. There were just too many things wrong.

But I'm going to end up going to 25-30 games. They've got me. They need to worry about the guy who comes once or twice a year and try to get him to come more. They can look at their 20,000 a night attendance and blame the fans or the economy or whatever makes them feel better. I'm just telling them how at least some fans who go to a lot of games and spend a lot of money in their park really feel.

In summary

Sale was not hurt, but Cooper still said he was going to move Sale to the pen to be the closer, because of some "tenderness" in his elbow, then an MRI was ordered, but it was just a precautionary MRI. Robin was not aware of any of this. Neither was Sale until Rongey told him.

Cooper then said the doctors ordered it.

But then Sales agent complained so they put him in back as a starter right away and he got shelled.

All of this and I shouldn't find the humor?

This is exactly what I said (minus the question mark) when you started your sixth thread of the week about Don Cooper on M&H.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, Chief. He didn't get shelled. One bad inning exacerbated by a Beckham error. He actually pitched pretty well. The Sox can't score off Hochevar?

Plus, being "closer", pitching in the 8th inning on Tuesday, then getting an MRI, I doubt he went thru his normal routine between starts. He was awful for the first 6 batters on Saturday. He gave up 3 runs, and got stuck with the L because the Sox couldn't muster up more than 3 hits off a guy with an ERA of close to 9.

Sox fans have always had an uneasy relationship with security. Back in my yout, security was famous for overzealously pounding on people when the got out of line.
