The results clearly haven't been there, but watching the games and Len and Bob touch on it every once in a while, he is making a lot of those infamous 'hard outs' Found an article that discussed this and while it doesn't mean anything is set in stone, it's likely that his numbers will start to improve.

Player X: 8.9 % BB Rate, 21.8% K Rate, 22.4% LD Rate

Player Y: 7.1% BB Rate, 23.5% K Rate, 21.2% LD Rate

Player Z: 5.2% BB Rate, 18.8% K Rate, 15.5% LD Rate

These are the three players in no particular order: David Freese – .322/.378/.567, Ian Stewart – .196/.267/.315, Mike Moustakas – .311/.361/.544.

Ian Stewart: 8.9 % BB Rate, 21.8% K Rate, 22.4% LD Rate, .235 BABIP

David Freese: 7.1% BB Rate, 23.5% K Rate, 21.2% LD Rate, .377 BABIP

Mike Moustakas: 5.2% BB Rate, 18.8% K Rate, 15.5% LD Rate, .353 BABIP

He's having a better May as this article I came upon was a week or so old, but just speaks to how fascinating baseball is with all the different stats available to really analyze a player.

Hey look, a new way for Cubs management to sell hope to the rubes!

Come out and watch Ian Stewart's drive towards his career .230 average.

What are the options? Baker,Mather or the new guy from the minors?

Against lhp ,i would start baker at 3rd.

I give him another 20 games, than if it is sub .200,bench him.

His defense is awful. I have already seen more "Ole" plays this year than in a full Ron Cey season. If he cannot hit, he is useless.

He's a good fielder. Rough start.

Like Dan, I'm fascinated by these advanced numbers and think they make the game more enjoyable. Unlike him though, I can admit I have no idea what they truly mean since a lot of them are in their infancy stages.

 Kinda like Sox fans taking hope in Dunn being "back". He can hit 40 HRs will you fight for 3rd place in the division with a .500 record

Paul Sullivan ‏ @PWSullivan
Another great play by Ian Stewart at third. Maybe the Cubs' best defensive 3B since Ron Santo.

Wow. I guess I was wrong. If Paul Sullivan say a good play, I guess I saw some great moves getting out of the way of the ball a la "the matrix." maybe the best defensive 3b since santo circa 1999. Or maybe luis Salazar.

Stewert is just so awful....I wish the Cubs could have a hall of famer like Brent Morel at 3rd.

Apparently he isn't just bad at the whole offense thing, but his education is in question as well. At least from my Twitter experience in the last fifteen minutes.
