I dont really get the hate

I mean I used to have a lot of anger about him busting out but he did have some good seasons for the Cubs and he always did everything he could to win. I guess he was stubborn about changing his motion, but he knew without the motion, he was nothing.

just another juiced up phony ...as far as what he did on the mound for his career? numbers wise he is not even top 20..he is everything that signified lovable loser for this franchise .

Writing was on the wall here. Guy's got nothing left in the tank, his signing was purely to pat STH's on the back and have at least one familiar face. Better to retire now and embrace his role while the fans still support him, rather than squander that by shitting the bed all season and leaving a sour taste in the mouth of the only organization that would offer any tangible non-baseball work.

Even as a Sox fan, I respect the fact that he was out there busting his ass. Bad form led to the elbow problems. When it was clear he couldn't start, he moved to the bullpen, which was a team move. Class act. More than I could say for that prima donna pussy Mark Prior.

He had 4 or 5 good seasons for them and was the main reason they won their first playoff series in 95 years

Be fair. Kerry had a handful of nice seasons and for a time proved he could make the transition from starter to closer with aplomb. Simply ran out of gas.
