Unreal the love for a guy who was a massive disappointment.

I guess that's why baseball is better here. I just appreciate the game.

Whatever. That was a really nice moment. Obviously he's over loved per his stats, but that got to me a bit.

This is true. Probably one of the only pitchers ever with 86 career wins to get a sendoff like this.

63 saves, 2nd best pitcher in MLB history in Ks/9, best single game ever pitched...  ..White Sox fans....

What the fuck do you care? Seriously; get the cob out of your ass. Breaking fucking news - Cubs fans like Kerry Wood and are sorry to see him go for whatever reason(s). I mean sure, this moment doesn't have the true baseball purity and staying power of a Minnie Minoso, ....

It was the loudest ovation he's had since he hit a walk off grand slam game 6 of the 2003 ALDS against the Braves.

I thought that was an inside the park home run for Kerry? I'm almost positive.

Frank is also not as stupid as bigfan. I know why Wood is loved (in more ways than one in Wrigleyville!)

I'm just having fun with Cubs Sox series is all.

Kerry Wood is more than his numbers. His overall career numbers are not stellar. He was a better pitcher than the numbers would say...and as was mentioned numerous times...he pitched one of the top games in the history of the MLB. He was a huge part of the Cubs playoff teams, especially in 2003. No one is trying to put him into the Hall of Fame, but he is an important part of the Cubs last 15 years, and deserves to be recognized as such.

He'll be remembered just like all those greats from the glorious summer of '69.

Cubs fans will clap like a seal for a fish. Unfortunately most of them left after the 7th to go to Bernie's.

Harold is beloved by Reinsdorf. I don't think any Sox fan waxes poetic about Harold.

You really don't want to compare Harold Baines' career to Kerry Wood's.

It won't be pretty for Kid K.

  Frank and Peeps disagree with you.

I believe gd was referencing Banks, Williams, Ferguson, and Santo. I'd put them up against Harold Baines.

And another game better than Humber's.

So not only do Cub fans celebrate a guy getting 20 k's in a game but they now celebrate him getting 1 k in a game?

Billy Williams is in that list I posted.

I never said I loved Harold Baines. Paul Konerko will be much of a fan favorite post playing career than Harold was.

You had pointed out how Wood had 86 saves in his career. Which is...ok I guess. Not great. I was pointing out that Harold's career was light years beyond what Wood's was.

Light years is overstating it. But, Baines had a better career.

Sox fans are having their fun at the Cubs spending 2 minutes to celebrate a guy that gave them a number of good memories. However, the Sox retired the number of a guy that hit .288 lifetime for them.

Just pointing that out.
