? Who cares? They're supposed to lose 95 games this year. In fact, it's better for them if they do.

I kind of figured all Sox fans were born of contempt, so it's only natural they gravitate that way. I find it very odd since I don't think that road is two-way. I'm a Cubs fan but I am indifferent to the White Sox. I follow them passively enough to know what they're up to and some of their roster, but by no means hate them. A lot of their fans, however, seemingly love to stir shit up simply because they feel the need to prove they're a superior brand of fan.

Very Cardinals-esque in that regard, which is in no way whatsoever a compliment.

Baseball is better here.

You can say the EXACT same thing about Cubs fans. Dime a dozen on BOTH sides of town whether you care to admit it or not.

The Sox are the team that was going to be moved to Florida and wore short pants one season.

Thinking about it now, Kerry Wood should have stuck around to keep blowing ball games late. In an ideal world, the Cubs prospects and tradeable assets would perform well, then bring in Wood (and Rodrigo Lopez) to lose the game so they maintain high draft position.

Of course. There countless Cubs fans who are truly an embarrassment to fans everywhere, that rule applies to all of fandom. I'd like to think that's not the majority, however.

Oh and hey look, another shitty boilermaker rick post. I would act surprised, but that's pretty much par for the course.

If I was a Cubs fan you guys would be talking about the one great post I did in my otherwise fairly mediocre history and giving me a standing ovation.

Exactly, so if you are aware that it's going on, and you don't like it when other people do it, why participate in it personally?

White Sox world series title was known for two things:

- the sox winning the title
- lowest rated world series of all time

TV ratings are a shallow thing to broach in the context of winning a title, but the fact that absolutely nobody in the sports scene would acknowledge the team winning the big show only furthered contempt. I'm happy that the Sox won a championship, but it makes me smile inside knowing reruns of Matlock outdrew every game in the series.

They were higher than the ratings were for the Cubs when they last played in the World Series!

Ah, my bad. They're now 5th lowest of all time, subsequent crappy world series have since trumped the woeful Sox/Stros series.

Wait...was that too many words for one post? Should I have drudged up some crappy punny image from the bowels of the internet to help it make more sense?

If only they could have lost to the Braves, the ratings argument would be moot.

If you are going to complain about meatball fans, and then go full on meatball you should at least be accurate. His post wasn't even close. Well, he did at least get the "sox winning the title" right.

BREAKING NEWS - Sox doctors have confirmed that Samardzija's pitch did, in fact, break Paul Konerko's steroid needle. He'll be out until such time as new product can take effect.

Konerko isn't the one of those two that miraculously became a decent MLB player after being a bust this year.

No, he would have to have been on it for longer than that.

So being a Cubs fan = meatball?

I even said it myself, citing TV ratings in an effort to dismiss a title win was shallow. I owned up to it. A meatball would not.

Obviously winning the world series is goddamn awesome, and I'd love for the Cubs to do that. This rebuilding process is part of what I believe will do that.

Yet Sox fans have derailed this thread into another pointless dick measuring contest because they feel like Kerry Wood should've been booed off of the field, and I'm the meatball? Please.
