Why do you guys care so much about Dan Bernstein's opinion? I can safely say I don't give a shit one way or another what he thinks about really anything.

I'll try and give you an honest legit answer . I guess it just amazes/ confounds me that he has such a popular radio show considering what I perceive to be horrible opinions, condescension to his audience / callers and general disdain for sports or anyone who has a dissenting opinion than his. In a weird way, trying to debunk these to people who like that shit, is entertaining to me.

I don't give two shits about his opinion. I just love it when it looks like its wrong because of the condescending, arrogant attitude he has. It makes him look like an ass - and that I do care about because it brings me joy.

Sorry. When I have the BernSTINE Fever I get a little worked up.

Glad you had your question answered.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and this is a message board for sports radio thoughts. I've taken the advice of some and just avoid the section. The show has changed, and I don't find it as enjoyable. There are days where instead of getting all upset and attempting to disprove Dan, I just do something else. The whole "must have a strong opinion" thing that media has drifted even further to isn't my thing. But it's still my favorite show. I think the objection a Kid has is the incessant complaints that are now almost every post.

Here's a comparison. You go to a bar you used to go to all the time with four friends. The place isn't as good as it used to be, but you still enjoy it. You're there to enjoy yourself as it isn't work, and you chose to go there. One of your friends brings that guy. The guy you didn't want coming along in the first place, and the entire time you're there is complaining about every single thing, constantly saying how much better the place used to be. It gets to the point where you can't enjoy yourself, because the guy won't shut up. You start to notice some of the things, which really weren't that important for your enjoyment. Now, you are having a bad time, and possibly chased by zombies. I'll go to the bar, avoid that guy, and try to enjoy myself. I'll proceed to trick him into checking his shoelace while he's eaten by zombies. I win again.

Sveum now having to use Wood today is fittingly symbolic of the old, tail-wags-dog #Cubs. Sentimentality trumps baseball, one last time.

Let it be know. Today is the last day that the Cubs are going to use sentimentality!

I love how in hindsight Stone saw all this coming with Wood, but no one in charge would listen. We know you're the smartest, snarkiest, baseball man ever.

Love him or hate him he has been pretty consistent on this topic. Obviously we weren't in the room for these conversations, but truth be told his points on Wood have been the same for quite some time.

Edit...to Peeps again

I actually believe everything Stone said was true. I'm just laughing at Stoney repeatedly saying this. He's his own greatest fan. :D

I think it's an homage to the Good Ole Boys, but seeing as how that STEIN was rooted in unveiled anti-semitism, yeah, it's a kind of crappy shtick.

Were you even listening to what he said, or did you immediately tune out after the mere mention of Cal Ripken's name?

All he did was point out a coincidence in the fact that his last game in the majors happened to also be the first game of Cal's streak. He didn't compare anything to anything. I thought it was a cool fact actually.

Yes, I listened to the entire piece. I don't believe I tuned out. To me a coincidence with Steve and Cal was pumping himself up. Kind of like comparing the end of one great athlete to the beginnings of the next great athlete. I am not trying to take anything away from Stone's career but this comparison was a bit much. Interesting fact by itself but overdone. That was my interpretation.

I didn't read it that way at all, not even close.

Especially at the end of the interview when Stone said "But that's baseball, Dan, players are always coming and going...." There are other things to point and roll your eyes at in that interview but this wasn't one of them.

It seems kind of unnecessary to argue the minutiae of Stone's latest bloviation. He's an unbearable gasbag regardless of what he did or didn't say in this case.
