I played Bolingbrook once last year. We were talking with the starter at the first tee, and I asked him how often Hawk plays here, and he didn't know who Hawk was.

So the Hawk bit traveled North. Last night Brenly in like the 8th inning..."The best I have ever seen at blocking pitches in the dirt was Mike Matheny. Did it for 13 years and was great for every team he played for."

Not entirely copyright infringement as he chose seen over saw.

Victor Martinez is the best seventh, eighth, or ninth hitter in this league, when he gets healthy.

He is awfully cocky for a 27 year old with 16 career wins.

He came off cocky as hell. Throwing in an insincere "I love those guys" at the very end doesn't mean it wasn't cocky. Maybe I'm old school, but I think he should get a few skins on the wall before he rags on a guy who, like him or not, has been in baseball for more than fifty years.

Im sorry but there is no way that could come off as cocky. He was laughing the entire time. It was all lighthearted.

And it wasnt insincere. He grew up a Sox fan and he obviiously watched games

It would be like if someone on the Sox said Len Kasper sounds like Kermit the Frog

And I dont know why you seem to think Hawk is some untouchable legend of Baseball

He's an announcer, who has turned into a cartoon character. Some people like him, some dont.

I wonder if you were this defensive of Harry Caray when people made fun of him. He's lightyears ahead of Hawk

It was cocky to me. Saying that he puts you to sleep doesn't sound like you are much of a fan.

It would be like if someone on the Sox said Len Kasper sounds like Kermit the Frog

I don't recall hearing a member of the Sox say that, so what's your point?

You are grossly exaggerating my position here. I said that a kid that has had one good month in his career should get a few more skins on the wall, before he rags on a guy who was a player, GM, and broadcaster for more than fifty years. That's my opinion. You say that I am too defensive of Hawk. Couldn't I just say that you are too defensive of Samardzija?

I wonder if you were this defensive of Harry Caray when people made fun of him. He's lightyears ahead of Hawk

I enjoyed Harry and Stoney a lot as a yout. They had their own style, and didn't sound like every other vanilla broadcaster out there. I feel the same about Hawk and Stoney. Not so much with Hawk and DJ. Growing up, we didn't have cable, so I watched a lot of Cubs games on WGN. We are talking about many years ago, when I was a child, and there were no message boards or sports radio stations, so I didn't hear a lot of ragging on Harry (by cracky). To say that a stumbling, bumbling, speech slurring Harry at the end was lightyears ahead of Hawk is a bit of a STRETCH!

I hope this satisfies you because I have little interest in doing the Hawk thing again today. Didn't we just do this a week ago?

Your idea of cocky is curious

Its an example of a light hearted quip that no one would take issue with.

No because Im not defending Samardzija and dont have a history of doing so.

So you DO hold up Hawk as untouchable because he's been in the game so long....pretty much what I said.

Harry Caray's place among announcers compared to Hawk is what I meant.

Yes we did do this last week.

But you came in here defending Hawk, trumpeting his years in the game and calling an obvious light hearted comment, cocky, so maybe you should ask yourself why youre doing this again.

You are quite the team player, Chus. It seems like you are incapable of, or just dont want to ever look inward at your side.

Maybe Im reading you wrong, but whether its a Democrat vs Republican thing, a Cub vs Sox thing, or a union vs management thing, you come off like your side is infallible.

And on the rare occassion you do admit to your side making mistakes, its accompanied by accusations to the other side.

I dont get that. No one or thing is perfect and certainly no Sports team, political party or Union is always right.

Sitting in a booth not talking about baseball doesn't make somebody "in baseball" for more than 50 years.

He was a role player that became a bad GM that was gifted a broadcasting job.

Now, spanky, he did lead the AL in RBI one year.
