I like Goff, but he would be more tolerable if he didn't hold himself in such high regard, and engaged in a little self-deprecation.

I've said it for a while. Goff and drinky are too damn comfortable and cocky for a couple of producers. No producers in any market are allowed to terrorize their co workers and station's listeners like these two. They take advantage knowing they have Bernstein to cover them and he also allows them to wage their little wars on his show. They also know that Mitch is a push over boss that won't say anything. I don't mind Spiegel trying to cut them down. They want to dish it without anybody swinging back. Doesn't work that way.

To say that they "terrorize" their co-workers and listeners seems a bit severe, no?

Though yes, Mitch does seem pretty laissez-faire as a PD, especially when it comes to B&B. Just keep doin' what you're doin', boys, we're selling boner pill spots like hotcakes.

"Verbally terrorize" Better?

Spiegel pulled rank and tried to make Jason feel small. Much the same way that Bernstein has taught Goff to do with listeners and co workers of whom he hates. Goff didn't like the taste of his own medicine.

Is there anyone that Pissypants wouldn't make feel small?

So we have this thing between Goff and Meatpants in combination with that "Da Ma Na controvery" between Mac and Goff a few weeks ago. I wouldn't be surprised if the midday decides to no longer have Goff guest host their show.

Goff:

Beardown: Hey man, just throwing it out as a possibility. You mess with the Bull enough, eventually, you get the horns. Just sayin'.

Goff:

Beardown: Relax. I don't think Mac and Spiegs are at that point yet. Just maybe cool it with the insults and messing with them. It eventually could reach a boiling point.

A sports radio producer who is stuck in his job is battling on twitter with a mid-morning co-host of a show no one listens to...

Seems like it is the battle of idiots.

At least Meatpants has an on-air job.

Goff likes confrontations. He wants to show the day part hosts that he'll stand up to them. But I also think he's sad and frustrated cuz he feels that he doesn't get respected by the big shooters at the Score. He wants them to think of him as their equal depite the fact that they out rank him. He thinks that they think he's just an ass clown. It's one thing when Goff gets that from listeners. He can just dismiss them by calling them "Dumb ass crackers" and convince himself that he's won. But he can't do that to the Mullys, Macs and Spiegels of the world for obvious reasons.

what a concept. Spiegs likes sports and he works at a sports station.

Goff hates people who likes sports, Loves Bernstien and loves himself.

I think somebody here put it well in a another thread. Bernstein started it and Goff took to it: Love what everybody hates and hate what everybody loves. Bait the dumb ass callers and texters with this and you can kill a five hour show quick and easy with this style. That and do the "white people are dumb and racist" thing.

Don't deny that Goff looks to Bernstein to see how to get the 500k a year talk show. Of course he does. It's so evident.

I don't buy that Goff thinks Spiegel has rank over him. Spiegs is just some guy for Mackeyfish to work off of who follows sports that Mac has little to no interest in (baseball and basketball). That's why he brought him as a co-host. Spiegs is nothing without Mac in this town. Mac's on the tail end of his career while Bernstein is the sports radio king and that's who Goff has attached himself to. I think Goff's problem is he has been influenced too much by Dan B. He fabricates opinions of the masses based upon one jackass caller or some muppet who texts in "da bulls r bettr w/o rose." Bernsie can get away with that nonsense now that he is the swinging dick at the Score and makes the big money. I don't remember his old solo shows from the late 90s having that type of atmosphere. Some advice for Goff: People don't want Bernstein clones on their radio. Read the B+B section here. Every day we bitch about Dan and his strawman arguments. I think Matty understands that and has moved on from trying to be a Bernstein type and his radio shows are better because of it.

You make some good points.

Here's what Goff doesn't understand. Bernstein is skilled at what he does. Goff is not skilled at being Bernstein. He's over his skis when he tries it and looks like a fool more times than not. That's why he can't do it. He doesn't get that.

Although Spiegs does out rank him. Full time host > Full time producer/part time host. That's just a fact. Doesn't matter how Spiegs got it (of course it was cuz of Mac). He got it.

Everyone relentlessly makes fun of Goff for that broken dishwasher story arc, but that sort of everyday-guy stuff makes for a better show than just being a Bernstein Clone, especially when Dan Bernstein The Man Himself has painted himself into so deep a rhetorical corner over the last few months that he's practically a Bernstein Clone.

This has turned into a bash Bernstein and bash Goff because he is a wannabe bernstein thing. Let us not forget that regardless of what Goff said, which was harmless, pissypants meat gave his typical oversensitive "i'm going to take my ball and go home" response.

Goff also brought up a halfway decent point and certainly not one that deserved a reaction like that.

The comment alone was nothing. If it was isolated it would be a nothing. It's the pattern of the constant needling and "Fuck everybody" attitude that they walk around with over at the Score. Bernstein gives them these false muscles.

Do the other producers at the station swing their dicks around like these two? No. They're seen but not heard as far as I know. They know their place. Drink and Goff think they own and run this mother fucker. Mitch is to blame for this. Once you allow Frankenstein to be created, you shouldn't be shocked when he kills everybody in the Village.

Here's how the chain of command should work at the Score. The order of importance. Everybody needs to know their place.

Bernstein > Zimmerman > Mitch > McNeil > Me > All other day part hosts > Full time update anchors and reporters > Rats > women > Larry > producers

Maybe there is more going on "behind the scenes" than we know about. Meat is being a poopy pants but maybe more shit is being thrown his way be those that feel they are "Protected" by BernSTINES nuclear umbrella.

I think it has lot more to do with who gets the last word. Meat (or Mac) can't try to escalate things because they'll take shots the next 5 hours. Probably why there is no transition from M&H to M&S.

If you heard Hit and RUn today, Spiegel was showing some of pissyness.

Some guy called in to talk about some of the bad with Kerry Wood and bringing up Game 7 against Florida, basically saying they were just giving the good of Wood and the caller even said it sounds like listening to WGN Radio.

That set Spiegel off, saying that's dumb we only talked for about 4 and half minutes of Kerry Wood and we need guys like those callers to have checks and balances, as somebody always needs to bring up the bad stuff.
