Not a fucking chance.

Anyway, I'm not interested in the Cubs-Sox "silliness", but the concept that they're both "bad" as in equally bad needs to be challenged. The Sox are pretty good and have a chance to win the division. Since they'll almost certainly finish above .500, spanky has confirmed my statement.

Now I'll stop.

Has Boers indicated just how much radio he's got left in him, really? I know these guys can go on forever, but Terry as an active reporter or commentator on anything has been relatively nonexistent for years.

I only bring it up because I'm not sure who the station would pair Bernsy with, if anyone. Goff, I guess would be the natural replacement.

A man can probably grunt unintelligibly from his basement studio until he's well into his 90s.

Realistically they could easily just give Berns a soundboard of Terry noises and we would never know Boers was gone.

Who!?!?!?!

Hood, Silvy and even, GASP, Carmen are better than the above at this point. Which is a "no shit" proclamation but still...

Or Dan can do like his favourite team does and have guest Boers odd noise makers.

I actually like Carmen. The only reason that show is unlistenable is Teinowitz.

Matty and Goff are the future.

Carmen is way to vanilla on the CJH show....if you gave them a bit more slack content wise and got rid of Harry I would listen to a Carmen/Jurko show....or throw Silvy on it as well.

If Goff and Matty are the future....where the fuck are they? What happened to the ground swell of love for Goff? I think that got diluted a bit after repeated listening...he needs to work on his chops and where else is he sharpening those skills at the moment? Calling BernSTINE a "big dumb dumb head"? Matty has improved but still, Larry Holmes is dominator of radio time....and he shouldn't be because he sucks.

Listening to Goff when he gets the rare shot at a one-off segment shows some of the holes he has. He fully requires a Bernstein-like sounding board for most of his thoughts, somebody to provide a laugh track.

Matt could probably do a solo segment but his major problem is that he aggressively dismisses nearly 100% of everyone as completely stupid. Violently stupid to the point of being offensive. He's awesome when he steps in to check Bernstein's bullshit from time to time, but when he's on his own he's pretty fucking thorny.

I've said this on several occasions! I think they could legitimately make it a full week before anyone suspected Terry wasn't actually there. A combination of the noises, nonsensical background laughter, and his verbal nodding along with Dan would make it very hard to tell. They could even throw in a few clips of him starting and stopping a thought several times then talking in circles for about 30 seconds and not actually saying anything.

It's the perfect crime.

Terry's replacement should be Mac, but I can only assume it'll be Holmes.

I doubt that Dan Bernstein would want to work with Laurence Holmes on a regular basis and I'd assume that he'd shoot that idea down immediately if presented to him.

Either they'd offer Rozner a full-time shot, or they'd let Berns go solo. I see no other scenario.

I'm going to have to concur with this. Berns has enough clout that he won't work with someone that makes him uncomfortable, yet smart enough not to work with someone who will kill the ratings.

Mac and Bernsie hate each other and the radio hates Larry so both those are out.

If Berns solo meant him going back to the "Old" BernSTINE and not the current incarnation then yes, I would like that. You could have the producers, if they are still Goff/Matty Batty, to keep him in check.

A bernSTINE/Rozner pairing sounds ok to my ears on a limited basis but it might work long term. Rozner actually has "thoughts" at least more thoughts than Terry.

I would like to hear a Mac/BernSTINE pairing, though. At least for a trail run. I think it's obvious that Mac doesn't care for BernSTINE at all and he is ornery enough to not take his bullshit semantic arguments.

I like Rozner with Bernstein but I can do without the "Look how mad I've made Vancouver!" stuff seemingly every time he's on.

I like the Boers-ALS(devout)/vault of Boers sound bites to replace TB. It might take a little tweaking in the software but I bet it would be days (weeks) before casual/infrequent listeners would know. And no more transition to keep the ruse intact.

Like I had said a while ago, it's commonplace to be on a first-name basis with elite or hometown NBA players. However, the greater Derrick Rose narrative as recently codified in Leitch's GQ piece, wherein Derrick Rose is Chicago's very own pwecious widdle Pooh who has to be sheltered from the Big Scary World Out There so he can continue to entertain us by putting a ball in a ring, is starting to strike me as icky and paternalistic and just a little bit perverse. Sure, maybe this held water in his rookie year when he didn't know what food was and actually had to be taught how to slice an apple without committing Japanese ritual suicide, but it can't go on anymore. He's not this idiot-savant foster child of Bulls fandom and Chicago at large anymore. It's been four years. He's 23. Let's not drag this playground manchild thing out anymore.

Conversely, Patrick Kane does need Chicago to rise up as one and protect him from himself so that he can continue to entertain us by putting a disc in a net. He's white and middle-class, though, and as such expected to keep his nose clean himself IF YOU PICK UP WHAT I AM PUTTING DOWN

Man, I sure called it on the Kaner thing. I even heard Kane referred to as "precious" and "our cuddly little."
