Len seems like a member of meatball nation.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Wow, and I have been enjoying his Q&A in the Herald. That is pretty bad.....at least Brenley has been quite honest about the play on the field. He is willing to take shots at player. Len, say it ain't so.

First Wood, then Zambrano, then Chris Volstad. It's a slippery slope.

Nobody else playing post 1960 for the Cubs should have thier numbers retired. For about 100 years,I gave the Cubs credit for retiring just two numbers. I had no argument with #31. That should have been done about 1985. Santo's number,I could go either way. The talk of Wood's number being retired is insane!

Do you really consider Dawson a Cub? I know he won an MVP there. There are a lot of White Sox I would have given a statue before Fisk. I'll always consider him a Red Sox.

Personal exception for Dawson. He was my first favorite player. I understand if others see him as an Expo or dont want his number retired.

But to me, he's as important as any Cub

Retiring numbers is just stupid. Look at the Bears...the league had to tell them to "slow it down".

Put a flag up with their number & initials or something....but frankly a VERY select few should ever have their numbers completely retired. Santo?? no. I loved Ryne Sandburg...but no. Fergie / Maddux??? no. Keep the god damn numbers and save the real honor of actually retiring a number for the truly elite. Michael Jordan !!!

That's how I see him too. I'm torn because I was born in Boston, and saw him play in Fenway, but I was 3. I loved it when the White Sox got him, and I appreciate all he did here, but when you say Carlton Fisk my first thought is Red Sox.

I am sure Len found some list that Z is high up on in his stat searches.

Whatever list he found. I don't agree with.

I agree with this list. If you had to add one more player would it be Santo or Grace?

Did he say this during a broadcast? if so, what was Brenly's response.

if it was during a radio appearance on WMVP/WSCR, which day/hour? Can check out the podcast that way.

would like some context.

this seems absurdly inane for anyone, especially Kasper.

Sammy Sosa's #21 will surely be retired. There is a bit of repair to be done in the relationship between the parties, but it's just a matter of time. The numbers he put up (aided by PED's or not) are too great to be ignored. His number will be retired.
