OK, none exists (That I know of), but I would have ZERO Problem with it and welcome the leverage in getting a deal done. Ironically this same thing applied to the South side upsets 'some people'.

Of course you have zero problem with it. Jerry is the big evil businessman for getting public money, but when Rickets asks for it you say nothing about it.

And then you complain about the 'integrity' of this board. Maybe we're just following the lead of the admin.

Frank when you take Business 101, I guess we can discuss this on an even playing field, but I will try to give you a quick lesson.

Business A - Has a proven model, they generate close to $500 mill in associated revenue and are responsible for $50 mill in taxes paid annually. With their expansion, the taxes paid could increase $20 mill per year or more? The asscoiated revenue could also increase drastically.

Business B- Does not make a profit shows less than $40 mill in associated revenue, files for an annual loss and pays no taxes and requires the state and city to provide them with a subsidy of between $5 and $20 mill a year and pays between $3-$5M back each year, which goes back to the maintenance of their building anyways, so it is a wash?

Which would you say is a deal the state/city should look into?

I will help you out. Business A. It is a good deal and smart deal for the city.

I am not against he city and state helping out businesses when it makes sense for the city, when the return is a positiive one. It is the job of government to promote good businesses.

It is not the job of government to help failing businesses because the owner bought off the political leaders of the community.

But I am sure you will have another well informed, well thought out viewpoint. Please proceed.

Assuming you are talking about the White Sox, they claim a 27.6 million dollar profit for 2011, according to Forbes.

Business B (SOX) got what they wanted.

Business A (CUBS) have not.

Seems like Business A could learn how things work in the real world from Business B.

The point was Ricketts asked for public money and you said nothing about it, while blasting the Sox for getting public money.

Sounds like its OK for "your" team to ask for it, but not for anybody else.

First of all you're going to have to grease the local politicians for the sudden landmark problems that always come up. Then there's the kickbacks to the Rooftop owners, and if you plan on using any free agents on this team I'm sure Scott Boras would like to have a little chat with ya, and that'll cost ya. Oh and don't forget a little something for the Smear Obama Campaign. Then there's long term costs such as renovating Wrigley Field. I don't know if you're familiar with who controls that process but I assure you it's not the boyscouts.

I think it is OK for Everyone to ask for it and it should go to those that show why it makes financial sense. Has nothing to do with baseball teams.

Frank, would you invest $10,000 into the White Sox today?

It has nothing to do with baseball teams until the baseball team that you hate, yet are obsessed with, actually gets that public money.

Why do you continue to invest thousands of dollars in the Cubs every year?

I do not invest, I buy tickets. An investment provides an ownership stake in something with the hopes of a financial return.

Any business, even a small bar looking to expand needs to demonstrate how they have made money and will make more money, thus a bigger contribution to the tax basis of the community when requesting public money or benefits. (TIF's)

How will our (The tax payers) investment return funds to the community on an annual basis.

It's very clear you don't have a grasp of some basic business principles, thus making any chance that you might see why the Sox deal is bad for the state null and void.

If you are asking for Public funds, it should matter. Unless you 'donated' to everyones campaign funds.

Did Ricketts know the limitations pertaining to Wrigley Field when he bought it? Do you think he figured that into the purchase price? Complaining about limited seating, aging structure, bad parking, lack of night games, roof-tops, landmark status, ...,etc. is as disingenuous as someone complaining about the jet noise after moving to Bensenville.

As a Cubs Fan I would have no problem if they moved out to Vegas or wherever far away. Just start from scratch and bring in a new team in here that HOPEFULLY knows how to win. We know the Cubs don't.

And as for Vegas, it's a win win. You'll have a team that the gamblers will always know to bet against!

Or moving to Wrigleyville, and complaining about loud music.

Difference between Loud Music and Loud Bar.

Once again, Loud Bar.....now CLOSED Bar....Just had to close the door and turn on the AC like everyone else.

CHUS, I expect better from you.

It had to be terrible to hear loud music when you are trying to sleep. I get it. I need quiet when I want to sleep, so I live in the burbs, not Wrigleyville. There are pros and cons to living anywhere, and one of the cons of the city is noise.

I'm sure it's pretty expensive to run AC in a place like the Wild Hare. Judging by the fact that he had to close, he was probably having money issues, and AC was one of the cuts he made.

It's all a mute point, as Nort would say. The Wild Hare is closed, so you win.
