It's not meant for a knock on Connor. However, you don't need a contest to get the next Conner. You just have to do a job interview.

The next North is someone for whom you need the contest. That guy will have no access to doing air checks.

If I were Mitch, I would be looking for two funny meatballs to team up with one regular broadcaster in order to create the next generation of Doug and OB to give me vitriolic radio right after Bears games.

I would do this if I thought I had a legitimate chance. The problem is that I'm not going to be as smooth as a communications student so I will be on the junk heap in the first round. Waste of time. Meanwhile, the Score is missing its opportunity because it really does not take much time to be comfortable with being on the air. The radio industry is littered with low IQs and even lower initiatives.

I don't disagree with that, but I also believe you need a co-host. That person would be me. Think about that dynamic. We would NEVER see eye-to-eye on anything. Listeners would love the natural conflict. Beardown would speculate daily about whether or not we hated each other.
