Not today. It's too bad Shark decided to try and kill Konerko to protect this thread from looking bad.

LaHair is like Steve Bilko or maybe Ron Kittle. Maybe when Anthony Rizzo forces him back to Iowa he can hit 70 homers in the PCL.

Coming into the series, LaHair had a .500 BABIP. Over the course of a full season, the highest BABIP was .444 by Ty Cobb. Not going to happen. Anyone remember Chris Shelton's 9 HR in the first 13 games of 2006? He was back on the Tiger's AAA team by July 31st. LaHair is more 2006 Chris Shelton than 1911 Ty Cobb.

Oh, Brian LaHair is also 29 years old.

On May 7th, Lahair's numbers were: .388/.479/.800/1.279

12 days later, his numbers are: .322/.417/.653/1.070

They can halt construction on the Bryan Lahair wing in Cooperstown, and we can all go back to ignoring Phil Rogers' columns.

With a .406 BABIP, so expect those to keep on dropping.

As Lovie Smith knows, the baseball season is approximately 1/4 finished, and he is .311/10/21 after that huge tear early. When Rizzo comes up, that will certainly eat into his playing time, at least a little bit.

He finishes somewhere near: .285 / 27 / 80

Not hatin. If he puts up the numbers that I predict, then he had a pretty good season. It's a pretty safe bet to say that he won't end the year with an OPS over 1.100.

That is why Phil Rodgers is a moron.

He chose to take a 29 year old in his first full (or maybe 2nd?) season in the bigs over a proven veteran. LaHair got off to a more powerful start than Paulie, but the proven hitter in Konerko has emerged. Its taken him less than a week to get "better" than LaHair, and he did this while missing 2 and a half games.

To be fair, it was Phil Rogers.

Im not sure THAT is what makes him an idiot

I always assume those teams are just made to represent who has had the best year so far.

I doubt he would actually take LaHair over Konerko if he were picking a team

I'm not a hater, but rather a realist.

Konerko .305/23/69 .375/.490/.865
Dunn .212/39/90 .342/.489/.831
LaHair .260/15/35 .339/.452/.791

Phil Rogers should be without a job, and anybody who quotes him should be banned from baseball discussion forever.

Why?

At the time, they were picking a team based on the stats to that point, right?

Which has no relevance when discussing a 162 game schedule.

It was a dumb, space filling article then, and it's even worse now.

What are you talking about? The all star teams are picked that way every year. LaHair's numbers were better.

I know Rogers is dumb, but I doubt he was saying he'd take LaHair over Konerko going forward.

He was picking a city all star team just like MLB does.

All-star rosters are not picked on May 17th.

If Dunn and Konerko were on the Cubs, and LaHair (BY CRACKY) was on the Sox, and Frank C started this thread, it would be fifty pages of people telling him he was a dumbass.
