I know this sounds preposterous, but I did hear it reported on a TV show that the Ricketts plan was a plan that had the Ricketts name, but was NOT sponsored by Ricketts. It was his dollars, but he had no idea about the plan itself. He was just giving the money. Thus "Ricketts' name is on the plan, but it's not his plan". Anyone else hear this? Is it even believable?

Would you fund a million dollar attack campaign and write the check without knowing anything? How did he know the money wasn't going to go for a "Obama Rules! Romney Sucks!" campaign?

Given it was going to a superpac to defeat Obama, your scenario is doubtful. Still, I posted what I heard. I didn't find the account as possible. I posted it prior to Berns/Laur's rant similar to my thought.

Chicago is a racially divisive city when it suits Dan's argument.

Dusty Baker and Milton Bradley talk about racism, Dan gets defensive.

Fuck off.

I don't think it's fair to conflate the two. That there are obvious racial problems in Chicago doesn't make Milton Bradley less of a fabulist idiot.

Yes, and I'm sure he lives in an area that is not majority minority. The guy only mentions parts of the North side which we all know where most white people in Chicago live. His limited knowledge of most of Chicago's neighborhoods I guess is proof of how racially divisive it is.

Expand please.

A good article here if you want to understand Obama's mentality entering 2009.

Bingo. I also believe that the only black people Dan has ever had a relationship with are Goff and Larry. This is only cuz his job mandates that he interact with them. It's a damn shame that Goff and Larry have to learn about the black community from Dan Bernstein.

If Goff and Larry were to leave the Score, Bernstein would never talk to them again.

Goff and Larry weren't raised in the city.

I highly doubt that's true. Beardown-o-meter: 3

I try not to be a Holmes basher because I think it's too much of it on this board, however am I the only one that's put off with him constantly mentioning that he lives in Hyde Park?

I understand that it's cool now and the in thing to live in city, especially Hyde Park, but is this Holmes' subliminal way of saying "See? I'm cool! I live in the city!"

You know what? White,Spanish,Asian,Indian and A-A. When somebody leaves the workplace I (a lot of others) just pretend like they never existed. You get used to seeing someone everyday then they are gone. That's life, especially in today's workplace.

You ever gonna tell the full story of how Larry tried to steal your girlfriend? Is this one of those things that just needs time to pass and you'll eventually tell the story in a year or so?

I wonder how often Larry ventures into Englewood or Kenwood. Basically, Hyde Park is the one of the few decent places in the south side (in the minds of northsiders). So Hyde Park residence gives him South side cred, but he doesn't get looked down on by North siders for living in the South side because its a good neighborhood.

I was raised on the Southwest Side. And there's nothing glamorous about it. Just a bunch of residential housing and local stores and places where there used to be industry.

This.

Chicago has a very private feel for a large city and higher than normal population density.

Larry's a bad guy for bragging that he plays poker with the producers because the money means less to him.

True. Just saying that Bernstein would go out of his way to avoid the minorities that left his work place.

Piling on, but Larry with the "20 dollars means a lot more to them than it does to me!" line to his "guys" aka producers. The douchebaggery knows no limits.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe its because I lived most of my life in the city, so I don't look at it as a big deal, except when it comes to shortcuts to avoid traffic (like Lake St from Western to Austin....awesome)

To be fair, Bernstein wouldn't want to speak to drinky if he left the Score as well. But that's a little different cuz drinky wouldn't want to talk to him either. I think Goff and Larry would want to continue to have a relationship with Bernstein. They actually think that Bernstein regards both of them as friends.

I once made a couple of wrong turns going to a Sox game and ended up in Englewood. I got shot at.

Luckily, for CSFMB, they missed.

That poker thing is immensely fucked-up. Larry really is a dickhole.
