- A bit of what I've read about Stannis around the webz has made me a bit perplexed about what the show's done with his motivations. At first glance of watching "Blackwater" you think 'holy shit - Stannis is a badass motherfucker!" However I forgot about what Varys mentioned to Tyrion earlier (that Stannis has employed Melisandre and potentially the ancient magic of the old world), and Varys' fear is genuine. By throwing that in there it sort of sets it up that Stannis charges into the battle so recklessly and indifferent to the wildfire because he is sure he won't die. He's the chosen one of R'hllor, so he's impervious to harm. The conflict with that is he never gave a fuck about the red god, and for all intensive purposes seems to only want to use Melisandre for getting the power he feels owed. The counter-argument to that is that Robert was an insane badass in the heat of battle, so this may simply be a display of the Baratheon trademark asskicking, but it's hard to say.

- I find it odd that Ser Loras, renowned for his intricate beautiful armor and, shall we say, fabulous style (as far as Westeros knights go, that is) is wearing simple dull plate for this battle. Not to say that Loras doesn't embrace the practical, it just seems like this would not be such a venue. Hmm.

I always thought it was just "sooner or later", as in

Sooner or later, for all intents and purposes, I couldn't care less what you do when you're lying low trying to avoid having a negative effect on society.

So I read an interview with GRRM today in Sports Illustrated (don't ask). In it he says that he has to get the next book out within 5 years. That leads me to believe the next book will come out in 4 years and 361 days.

So we might have a problem. If this show stays as popular as it is and if HBO doesn't fuck it up (the big if) we're gonna run into a problem in a few years where the show is going to run out of source material. Even if they stretch book 3 over 2 seasons and then stretch books 4 and 5 over a combined 3 seasons that still only gives us 5 years of material. I guess if the book comes out in 5 that would give them just enough time to make a season(s) based on book 6.

But, then what do they do?

This is awesome. I never knew that Theon has a famous sister, Lily Allen the british pop star. I just watched some of her videos and she's quite talented and hilarious.

Here's a link to a video for her song "Alfie" which is about Theon. Its very funny. from 2007 and she's encouraging him to stop smoking pot and go get a job. Looks like he did.
