OmG... Good night. Lamarcus Aldridge? I gotta block you so I don't lose my shit reading this Telander-esque nonsense... For fucks sake.

Please tell me you aren't trying to say LeBron is a better post player than Aldridge...

Scorers always score no matter who is guarding them. The best defenders just make them work harder for it.

Usually true, but in that case it's inefficient scoring, which means the defender won. But LeBron isn't really a natural scorer. His mid-range, 3 point, and free throw shooting are all average. His post scoring has gotten better but it's still average also. He's just extremely hard to guard when going to the basket. Pippen was talented and smart enough to bait him into playing to his weaknesses and. It his strengths. I don't think LeBron would be that successful. I think Magic Johnson circa 1991 would be harder to guard and well, we know how that story ended.

Lebron was THE top vote getter on the all defensive 1st team this year. The only player over 50 votes... and he's the MvP.

That's because you don't watch the nba. LeBron is a more versatile defender, Allen is a better on-ball defender. The best, actually.

He was also my preseason pick for dpoy. It's because he's amazing at help defense and very good at on-ball defense. Nobody here is saying LeBron's not an all-world defender. He's just not the best and he's not as good as Pippen was.

Oh man....

"Watch the tape"? What the fuck kind of statement is that? I'm sure BernSTINE has huge collections of tape dedicated to whichever dumbass sports opinion he has. Nothing but tape in his house dedicated to Pippen and his defense. What a fucking douche-windbag.

Why couldn't Pippen guard LeBron, exactly? He shut down the best players of his generation, even with a bad back at times, so why couldn't he guard LeBron? Is Pippen not physically capable of playing today's super-advanced, hyper-complex style of defense?

"Yeah, LeBron couldn't be stopped by Pippen because LeBron is....derp, derpity derp dep,HAVENT YOU SEE THE TAPE? WATCH SOME!"

More bad NBA Thoughts.

I only wonder whathe NBA EXPERT AND INSIDER think of this?

Well, you and I both know that Magic was past his prime at that time. I am glad that you mention "efficient scoring", however. Most fans never consider such a thing. When I make my regular argument as to why Magic was a better player than Jordan, Magic's superior efficiency as a scorer is summarily dismissed. At least in Chicago.

By "better, more versatile," I hope he means bigger because Pippen was a beast in his own right.

Bersnstein is such a smug little prick. Easily the guy I dislike the most on Chicago radio.

Ed, thank you very much. I can only believe he says this stuff to rile us all up. Thus the reason I don't listen and only glean these tidbits from this fine message board.

This.

He know what he's doing.

He knows exactly the type of calls he's going to get today when he says this on air. 99.9% of arguments comparing players without quantifiable data is pointless and someone only takes a strong opinion just to piss off half the people involved.

Not really. It was often Pippen getting switched to guard the Gary Paytons, Mark Jacksons, Penny Hardaways, John Stocktons, etc. He did a better job limiting other teams' smaller quicker point guards than Jordan did.

Jordan got a lot of steals by swiping and reading the passing lane, which padded his defensive stats, but he couldn't stay in front of his man like Pip could.

He seems to have stepped up his baiting over the past six months. I wonder if B and B are getting pressure from above about ratings.

Magic may have been past his prime but he wasn't done. Far from it. He lead one of the worst supporting casts of his career to the Finals still.

And I'm not sure why you would make the efficiency argument with MJ. He was the most efficient volume scorer of all time.

Magic shot about 30 percentage points higher. Shooting percentage does mean something. What else do you mean by "efficiency"?

Game on the line, Magic in his prime; Jordan in his prime. I'm putting the ball in Jordan's hands 10 out of 10 times. Magic may have shot a higher percentage, but that's only because he took fewer shots. Magic never had to be the top scorer with Kareem and Worthy around.

Magic took 13 shots a game, MJ took 23. Magic was rarely the primary scorer on his team, Jordan never played a game where he wasn't. That's why I specifically said volume scorer. It's much more impressive to shoot 50% on 23 shots than 52% on 13 shots. That's one of the reasons Tyson Chandler isn't considered one of the most efficient scorers in the league.

So what? Magic would find the open man. This is the Bulls fan argument I hate. When it's in support of Jordan, it's that Jordan never played with anyone. Then in the next argument Pippen and Rodman will be among the 25 best of all-time. I'm not saying you're doing that, but we both know that obviously MAgic and Jordan were different types of players. When Magic needed to carry the scoring load he did and he did it at a better percentage than Jordan. That's indisputable.
