It's more than just winning. The Cubs don't win and people enjoy the experience. It isn't my job as a fan to figure out how to fill U.S. Cellular Field. I have some ideas though.

I'm going to go to about 30 games this season and pay for every ticket. I'll probably spend about $50 average each time in the park. The White Sox don't even know who I am. How many guys do you think go to more games than that? 1000? Maybe less.

Everyone wants to go to the playoff games. The Sox can take the bernstein attitude that "Too bad. Get a better job so you can afford it." That's their right. I have no problem with it. But where are all those people that snap up the playoff and World Series tickets? Do you think they're coming to see the Royals on a rainy night in April? Go scold them and leave the working man who does his best to take his kids to a couple games a season alone rather than making him feel guilty for not going more.

To paraphrase Larry last night, find the secondary market for cheaper tickets, bring your own food in if you can't afford the 3.50 hot dog, or where does it say you even have to eat at all? just go to the game, tell your kids to fuck off no souveniers or food for them and enjoy the ballgame.

I think these Score guys believe that Sox fans are saying they can't go for various reasons and maybe they are. But they truth is they don't want to go for whatever reasons. It isn't an obligation of the fan to go. Tell me why I should go. They take those that do go for granted chasing those that don't and then they wonder why nobody is there at all. Same thing happened to the racing industry.

I don't like when he says that. It may be true of some, but I think Dan Bernstein is vastly underrating the collective knowledge of the NBA's fanbase. Every sport has its casual hangers-on, but there are a lot of fans who know basketball. Hell, there are plenty on this site. That's insulting of him to say.

For starters, U.S. Cellular Field isn't the tourist attraction Wrigley Field is, especially among out-of-towners. While the White Sox and the folks running the ballpark have done a lot to make it a lot more intimate and more of a fan-friendly experience, such as the Bullpen Sports Bar beneath the right field stands & Bacardi at the Park across the street, there are a lot more places where fans can drown their sorrows within walking distance.

I also wonder if there's still a degree of fan apathy nearly 20 years after MLB's last work stoppage in 1994 when the White Sox & Expos (now known as the Nationals) had MLB's best records. I wonder if there are some fans are still mad at Sox owner/chairman Jerry Reinsdorf trying to break the union back then instead of bringing home the city's first World Series title. I don't get it...

I wish Professor Dan and his TA Jason would teach a class so we could learn how to properly watch a basketball game.

I'd love to watch a basketball game with Bernstein so he can "school" me. I've personally never learned anything new about basketball from him and I've been listening to this show for almost 11 years. He thinks his years as an announcer/PR guy for a CBA team has given him some kind of insight that other people don't have. That's flatly wrong.

That and I believe BernSTINE and Da' Boyz severely overestimate their own depth of knowledge regarding the NBA. How do we know this? We hear almost every show.

I'm not saying they no nothing, but that they simply grossly overestimate.

Couldn't agree more, he's turned a few dumb tweets into an entire legion of basketball stupid fans. Does he not seem extra prickish today? I do like that Goff actually has been challenging him on some of his basketball thoughts and generalizations.

Yeah, I found that weird. Miami actually started that trend and now it's pretty much league-wide. That's not restricted to the Thunder, and it's not limited to basketball either. How did he feel about the Sox' blackout games in '08?

I believe I remember him saying he thought it was pretty cool.

Either way, it's just fucking dumb to argue over, no matter how totally contrived it is. A bunch of fans who pay to go to the game all wear the same color t-shirts, cheer loudly and dare, DARE I SAY have fun and root for their team.

Show Checklist:

-Proclaim that no one knows how to watch an NBA game properly, besides you of course. - CHECK.
-Tell stupid listeners how to act at game and proper game conduct. - CHECK.
-Drool over a dumb article and take several minutes to read the entire thing and then have a argument that has you repeating article talking points as your own- CHECK.

Laid up a big hangin' curve with the above...

He has to hate it not to be a hypocrite because he dismisses the argument that one of the reason college athletics are better than pro athletics is the atmosphere that surrounds the games.

I'm done with Bernstein for a while.

Jim Leyland called for umpires to be accountable earlier in the week. But Hawk is affecting the game more by being a meatballs.

Insufferable twat.

When is the last time an umpire was fired for poor performance? I don't mean one or two game suspensions. I'm talking about a guy being fired for being bad at his job.
