No movie is worth seeing in 3d.

I've never seen one, but that's my default belief concerning 3D in general. Had a chance to watch some 3D tv this past weekend and it was definitely cool, but I wonder if it isn't a bit of a distraction when it comes to truly enjoying a movie. Like am I gonna spend the whole movie thinking about the 3D effects as opposed to thinking about the story.

But like I said, I've never seen a movie in 3D. Maybe I'll save it for a movie I don't care about as much as Avengers.

anyone who says this with conviction never saw "avatar" in 3D. that's still one of the most amazing theatrical experiences i've ever had. just truly visually stunning.

Visually stunning but the movie itself kinda blew.

I didn't see it in the theater, only parts of it on F/X, but I thought the effects were mediocre (not to mention the bad acting). Maybe the bar was set too high from all of the hype, but I thought it kinda sucked too.

I refused to see Avatar. James Cameron is a bit too full of shit.

I am glad you did this. I had no idea who that was and looked it up before I saw movie. My kid said it was red skull and I corrected him like I knew what I was talking about. I rule thanks to Speeps.
Movie kicked ass.

Hey if I don't create issues for him there will be no need for therapists in 20 years. You want to put all those people out of work?
Seriously he thought it was really cool I knew who it was and spent a ton of time looking him up when we got home and now he is all excited for future movies.

I agree. I have already seen Avatar when it was called Pocahontas.

The kind of movie you want to see in 3D isn't a movie you have to worry about the story.

It seemed rather "cartoony" to me.

the whole world seemed to come alive for me, cartoon looking or not. it was just incredible to watch. i'll never do it again and i'll never watch it in any other medium. for that experience, it was one of the best i'd had in a theatre.

Saw this last night. Was a big step for considering I haven't been in a movie theatre in 5 years. Probably won't be going back to a movie theatre ever again. The advantage of seeing a movie on the big screen vs seeing a movie at home on my nice system does not not make up for not being able to pee whenever I want, pull bongs whenever I want and, most importantly, lay down. After 7 back surgeries, sitting in a chair for longer than a half hour is not easy.

That said, enjoyed the movie. Thought it was pretty good, not amazing by any stretch. I'm biased because I love the source material, but on its own I would say the movie was acutally quite mediocre if you didn't come in already in love with the cannon like I did. My girlfriend hated it, was bored out of her mind the first hour. I could understand that. If you didn't know this stuff backwards and forwards, the setup made very little sense.

I think the problem, and I thought this from the start, is that the villain sucks and there wasn't enough of them. Loki is a middle of the road villain at best. He should be reserved for a supporting part in a movie like this, , not the main guy. At the very least there should've been more than one main villain. When they announced that he would be the villain I was shocked and dissapointed. Loki? What is this, Thor 2? And they did a poor job explaining exactly what the cosmic cube can really do. Its more than just an energy source.

The second half of the movie, once the team was assembled, got better thanks to the Hulk. But, that in itself points out the weakness of the film. Take Hulk away andt his was a pretty terrible movie. That's not a good sign when a movie about a super hero team is saved and completely carried by only one character.

Overall, as a huge fan, I would give this a 3 out of 4
But, if I was to look at this as an unbiased neutral party I would say this is no better than a 2 out of 4
