Then there is no hypocrisy. Just a tough conversation.
It probably wouldn't be hypocritical, though head collisions don't magically start at age 11.

The hypocrisy comes from him being so adamant that football for kids is terrible, but not having the same stance for hockey. I just wonder at what age you need to stop playing any sport.

Football: never
Hockey: ???
Basketball: Always, unless you are white, then it is 18.
Baseball: Always.

Do they allow checking in hockey leagues that young?

Edit: apparently they allow it starting at age 11.

My son is 20 months old, and my wife bought him a little set of three plastic golf clubs. I put those things in his hands everyday.

Hank Jr is 2 years old and I took him to mini golf this weekend. He liked to put the ball right next to the hole and then tap it in and start jumping around. That encouraged me at first. Then he thought that it would be good to pick the ball up and fling it into the water. After doing it twice I stopped letting him hold the golf ball. Maybe he will turn out like Lefty.

Because the chance of concussion is far less?

You talking competitive throw you in the air cheerleading? I agree.

I dont think Cheerleading for the 8th grade b ball team is all that dangerous

Are you equating Football with Futbol in regards to concussions?

There is still hypocrisy unless he is qualifying his criticisms with "Im only talking about parents who dont make their kid stop playing football at 11."

I think the football concussion thing is starting to go too far. Especially as it relates to kids before the age of 15-16.

I strongly disagree.

Im not sure what kind of hockey he's playing. If its floor hockey or no check hockey its waaaaay safer than football.

The concussions thing is not being blown out of proportion, IMO

And just because you CAN get a concussion in other activites doesnt mean you shouldnt avoid high percentage concussion activities like football.

11 year old football can't be much different than floor hockey. I'd like to actually see how they compare. I think I can say with total confidence nobody's brain was getting knocked around on my 11 year old football team.

I think you're wrong. It doesnt take a highlight reel hit. Bump your hard kinda hard and you can have a concussion.

That's true technically. But that's the logic you made fun of when people asked about soccer and cheer leading. Do anything and you can get a concussion. I don't think I'm wrong when I say peewee football is not significantly dangerous for a kid. Is there any studies on it?

The danger starts when the pee wee football coach starts showing the kids how to shower.

That's not true and you know it.

It just seems that after the whole blocking issue happened, you take every opportunity to rip Goff. I'm not saying that I don't disagree with some of the things that you're saying, it just seems that you point it out a lot more now.

Yes I believe there are.

No thats not like Cheerleading/Soccer. Those are long shots. In football, in certain positiions you get hit on every play. In the other sports its a long shot

Its as true as the portrait youre painting of me. As if I loved everything Goff did before.

You're advancing Goffs theory that its ONLY because he blocked me. And when you say that it YOU ARE saying you dont think what Im saying is true. Thats how it reads.

Ok, tough guy. Let's go back and see the Anti-Goff posts pre-block, and the Anti-Goff posts post-block. Huge difference.

I don't know why I care so much, I just want you to admit it and then we can move on.

Except you're not really getting hit. This is 11 yr olds. Half the tackles are kids just tripping. I'd like to see a study detailing concussions at this level or other brain injuries. I googled it for a second, didn't find much the first few links and then got bored and gave up. I'll be shocked if concussions are a problem at that age. If they are then I'll admit I'm wrong about there being too big a deal made about it.

And your theory is inherently flawed.

I ripped him enough pre blocking TO GET HIM TO BLOCK ME right?

All I'm saying is that you seemed to like him beforehand, and then when he blocked you, you took more fun in pointing out his flaws.....like a chick you used to have a crush on, and when she tells you that she doesn't like you, you pull a Waka Flocka and say "I aint really want you number/your friend look better anyway!"

And why am I quoting Waka Flocka Flame?

It wasnt a sideswipe at you, it was more because L. Gordon used to say that about you all the time, so I was telling him people who live in glasshouses, ought not throw stones.

In other words...

If you harm a child, better bet somewhere down the line someone will be working on you with a sledgehammer and blow torch.
