When TNT revs up for the "Summer Series" of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this weekend, there won't be much viewers will notice different as Turner Sports takes over for FOX Sports starting with this Sunday's Pocono 400. However, for the man who will call the race, it will be a larger role.

With last year's prerace host Lindsay Czarniak now with ESPN as one of its many "SportsCenter" anchors, Turner Sports has announced Adam Alexander, who will call TNT's 6-race "Summer Series" schedule for the third year in a row, will add a larger role on the network's NSCS broadcasts this year. In addition to calling the races with Kyle Petty & Wally Dallenbach from the booth, Alexander will add prerace hosting duties on TNT's "Countdown to Green" trackside before the race. Alexander & Petty will be joined by "NASCAR on FOX's" Larry McReynolds for the hourlong prerace show starting before Sunday's Pocono 400 at 11a (CT).

In addition to those guys on the prerace show & in the booth, Turner Sports will also employ Matt Yocum, Marty Snider, Ralph Sheheen & Chris Neville on pit row for the network's 6-race schedule. "NASCAR on TNT's Summer Series" will then visit Michigan International Speedway for the Michigan 400 June 17th, Sonoma, CA for the TOYOTA SaveMart 350 June 24th, NASCAR's second visit to Kentucky Superspeedway June 30th, NASCAR's second visit to Daytona for the Coke Zero 400 July 7th & the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at Loudon, NH on July 15th. It seems hard to believe, but this is Turner Sports' 30th year broadcasting NASCAR.

Adam Alexander is not just TNT's NASCAR PBP voice, but he's also the lead anchor of "SPEED Center" Sunday nights. Tune in Sunday, and you'll know what he looks like.

Turner Sports hired Adam to do play-by-play after Bill Weber was forced out due to, I believe, an incident he was involved in at a hotel room 3 years ago. Ralph Sheheen, who is part of the "NASCAR on TNT" pit crew these days, was pressed into service after Weber was initially suspended following the altercation and then Bill's contract wasn't renewed as TNT's NASCAR voice.
