Just to keep tabs on Emery that he's actually bringing in his own people. Fear-mongering over the lack of changes to personnel can be quieted slightly today.

They are still just going to chuck darts at the draft board to decide who they are gonna pick though....

I never should've posted anything. Bears threads are like a bug-zapper for the football retarded.

So anyone who had drafting input, minus Angelo and Ruskell, is still employed?

Almost as amusing as everybody's immediate dismissal and creepily eager desire to see this team fail.

Those tweets weren't for certain, but they promoted 6 existing scouting people and hired 8 new faces.

Yet any answer outside of, "they fired literally everyone, burned down halas hall, and hired 800 new people" won't satisfy any of you, so just pretend I said that.

Why would I want all of Angelo's guys fired? The Bears have done a much better job drafting than Emery's teams over the past seven years or so.

You're basing this off of a variety of assumptions and implications, then using those to forge a flimsy bridge between Emery and the names called on draft day. After which you cite aforementioned cobbled connections and translate them as flashing red warning signs (the ones subconsciously desired by the quivering pessimist branch of fans who would prefer failure over success simply to prove themselves right in the end).

Could Emery be a disaster? Sure.

But seriously, put the gun down and try to enjoy this season for fuck's sake.

On a serious note:
Quote:

I'm basing it off exactly one assumption. My assumption is that head directors of scouting have major impacts on drafting decisions. I'm assuming that because, if they don't, what the fuck else do they do?
Quote:

Yeah, silly me assuming that head scouts have a major impact on who is drafted.
Quote:

How do you translate connections into warning signs? And yes, I do find it worrisome that a really sucky head scout is now the GM of the Bears. I'm even more worried after he had what sure looked like another sucky draft.

Hand, broheim. I've got enough street cred built up that I don't have to defend against charges of Scoreheadism, even if the person leveling the charges did 57 mock drafts.

IB, I'll let The Dude summarize my rebuttal:

"No, you're not wrong, Walter, you're just an asshole."

I think you're more optimistic than you sound and I know I'm more pessimistic than I come across as, but the bracing for eminent disaster because Emery didn't scout hall of famers is negativity for the sake of cultivating negativity.

I can't prove anything to you anyway, and obviously I may just be playing into the IB game by butting heads with you, even lightheartedly, but my optimism is so violently unwelcome regarding this team it kind of makes me sad that this is where we're at as fans.

Good to see Emery making changes and let's hope they are for the good. I am certainly willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

As to all the meatball responses...

Rosseau's discourse on inequality states that if you are on the same side of an argument as cpguy then you are on the wrong side of an argument

I'm excited as hell about the upcoming season Dewskie.

That doesn't mean I'm gonna run out and buy a Honeybears outfit because they hired someone who closely resembles a GM. Lovie, Phillips and Angelo would have been fired long ago if this were an actual big market football team. But it's the McCaskeys. Which is why a lot of Bears fans aren't quite doing cartwheels over Emery. Let's be honest: Emery's biggest assest is that he's not Angelo. And Emery was here already. Not exactly bringing a fresh way of doing things to Halas Hall.

When the Bears reach the level of consistent success as the Pack or NE or hell, the Giants......then I'll give this crew all the praise in the world. 1 title in 27 years doesn't really inspire optimism.

Valid points, but Until McCaskey dies what are we supposed to do? Just angrily stamp our feet, waiting to outlive the ownership? Fuck that, I'm gonna enjoy the games and the team. I'll criticize the absolute shit out of them when they deserve it, but I've felt a lot of this pessimism is unwarranted.
