he kind of wants it both ways here...a spaghetti western but taking the slavery days seriously. the plot sounds very cartoonish...but then again, so did "inglorious basterds" and that's probably my favorite tarantino movie.

so...i'm intrigued. but...cautious.

All I'll say is it'll be a pretty big disappointment if this movie sucks given the talent involved, the plot, and the time it took to produce/release.

I'm sure it'll be weird, but I'll see it. Tarantino flicks even at his worst are entertaining.

I'm always in on a Tarantino flick. Will probably see it on opening day.

I didn't care for that one either. This one has promise.

Pulp Fiction and True Romance are in my top 5, but this scene would have to be my favorite of Tarantino's work. The expression on Eli Roth's face (and to a lesser extent- Pitt's as well) while Christoph Waltz is speaking takes what would have been a great scene to begin with- and brings it over the top.

Saw this on wiki:
Quote:
Tarantino asked Adam Sandler to play the role of Donny Donowitz, but Sandler declined due to schedule conflicts with the film Funny People.

well, i can't blame sandler...i mean that as a big role. too bad it was such a disappointing movie.

IB seemed to split fans...some loved it, some didn't care for it. i just think it's tarantino at his best. it's got a lot of levels to be enjoyed upon. it's intellectual but gruesome, funny but utterly hopeless, and also a bit triumphant. it's just a masterpiece, i think.

since I don't know how to put what i'm seeing into words when it comes to movies....(ask me about music), I appreciate it when you do.

You are absolutely correct though...IB is all those things, but at a 5 or 6 on the emotional 10 scale. that's why i was disappointed.

I planned on seeing IB but it seemed cartoonish and weird. Just saw the trailer for Django Unchained. It looks like IB only in the old west. QT is not a genius director. What he does is simple. Dolph Lundgren,Steven Segal & JCVD have been making direct-to-video movies for years with the same ultra-violent spin as QT movies. In real life he is one weird (coked-out?) dude. I really can't stand how people line up to kiss his ass. That is not to say some of his movies were not entertaining. Pulp Fiction was great. Kill Bill was very good. I also thought that "Death Car" mini-movie with Kurt Russell was good minus the weird "girl talk" between the "stars" of the flick.

I agree. The characters are all very interesting. Every actor brings their A game... I love that pub scene. True tension.

the pub scene is my favorite in the whole film. the italian scene is probably the funniest. and one of the most unnerving is the opening scene.

Probably, the most disappointing thing about IB was how good the opening scene was. It was so good, that it was somewhat downhill from there. The pub scene is also great, but that opening scene is masterful. Everything about it was nearly perfect.

Agreed; the casting was also top notch, it's too bad Tarantino couldn't do more with it.

Christoph Waltz absolutely owned that movie...

Wtf are you guys talking about? Didn't it receive a whole bunch of nominations, including a best picture nod... Waltz also won the best supporting actor Oscar...

Tarantino did so much with that film... Seriously go back and watch it again... It was widely thought of as brilliant.
