good morning - in preparation for this years 99th Tour de France, i found this wonderful preview that will give you all you need to know so you can begin to plan your viewing schedule. it breaks the race down stage-by-stage so that you don't miss any of the critical mountain stages and time trials. It also gets you up to speed on this years favorites, the course, the teams and so forth.

i am looking forward to keeping everyone up-to-date after each stage so that you can keep track of the daily leaders if you miss a stage. unfortunately, as with last year, i will be on vacation for the last week of this years tour but i will do my best to keep everyone informed down the stretch via my mobile device.

Vive le Tour!

Respectfully requesting 1 Tour thread instead of separate shoutouts/thread for each stage and winner. I'll stay out of that one thread for sure.

i am taking Frank's suggestion under consideration. After all, that one thread each day i am sure pushes the boards bandwidth limitations.

I find the request unreasonable.

This is the Super Bowl of Cycling.

The best part is when they all crash on the side of a mountain and limp away with broken faces and collarbones.

edit: And sometimes in HD you can see the HGH dripping out of the wounds.

Bullriding is great to watch as just something to have on mute while drinking with friends. Watching idiots get trampled and flung off a bull is good entertainment. Almost as hilarious as a 100 bicycle pile up.

So we have:
1. Bullriding
2. Bicycling
3. Hockey

cyclists that cheat aren't interested in HGH or steroids that give them unusual size or muscle mass. they are interested in increasing red blood cell levels for quicker recovery time, commonly referred to as blood doping. at the end of one of the 3-week grand tours they all look like skeletons since they cant possibly consume enough carbohydrates to make up for all of the caloric loss incurred from riding a bike a couple thousand miles. there are very few cyclists that are large men - former winner Jan Ullrich was one. He also was banned for blood doping.

nice article in this weeks Sports Illustrated previewing the Tour and also the Olympic cycling events, focusing on fellow Brits Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish. Wiggins is a Tour favorite in the GC, while Cavendish has dominated the sprint competition in recent years. Both hope to achieve Gold on their home soil in the Olympics. It is a very good article.

Congratulations IMU and BD. We've added a third person to the list of people who create a bunch of threads no one reads or cares about.
