So the real question you are asking is: who was the last player chosen to be on the team? I would say it was proabably between Isiah and Mullin. Mullin being the better player at that time and Isiah being considered for legend status (like Larry and Magic). Mullin was chosen for two reasons: his position, and everyone hated Isiah.

Yes, that's exactly how it was.

I'm sorry taht doesn't make sense to you.

Are you telling me that Magic and Bird weren't special? Or that Isiah was at their level in terms of how they transcended the game?

12.9 – Chris Mullin’s scoring average, fourth highest on the Dream Team

5.3 – Karl Malone and Chris Mullin’s rebounding average, which led the Dream Team

Which of the 11 NBAers would you take off for Isiah?

Have you listened to a word I've said?

The answer is simple...NONE.

HE. WASN'T. GOOD. ENOUGH. TO. MAKE. THE. TEAM.

.

You're insane. The team was not picked solely on 91. It was obviously representing the era. Isiah had the better career and should have been on the team.

I guess the dozens of analysts, coaches, and hall of fame players who said Isiah should have made it are wrong, and the guy from Love Cruise is right.

So you agree with what I was saying.

Im not taking peenus-ism into account. Only their play.

No, Magic and Bird are special and their timing was perfect.

But if you are saying who are the biggest NBA stars from 89-92, Isiah would be there for sure.

I don't think you can just say automatically that Mullin was the last NBA guy picked. He's very comparable to Drexler. Scottie fell right in with those 2 as well at that point in their careers.

Well, I think, at that time, Mullin was a much better player than Isiah. But Isiah was a great player before that. But he wasn't as recognizable to the GLOBAL community as Larry, Magic, and Michael. So, even though he was a legend here in the states, his "legend" status did not push him to be on the team because he wasn't a better player than other people in the league anymore.

In other words, some yokel Euro trash at the games wouldn't know who either Isiah or Mullin was, so Mullin was included because he was a better player at that time. And it was very important to put forth the best possible product.

Check Drexler's stats... the guy was a beast. Scottie could have been one of the last selected, though.

You had him off the team by 10 guys. So, are you in agreement that his play actually warranted a spot on the Dream Team?

The fact that Kurt Rambis was left off the Dream Team squad was a crime.

No I didnt. I said he was a top 20 player, meaning somewhere in the teens counting foreign players.

He was on the borderline. Its fine that he made it. Im not saying, nor have I implied he was a bad player. Im saying he was about the 15th or 16th best player in the league from 89-92. You guys seem to have him around 11 or 12. Its not that big a difference.

Scottie:
1990-91: 17.8ppg, 52 fg%, 7.3rpg, 6.2apg, 2.4spg, 1.1bpg
91-92: 21ppg, 51 fg%, 7.7rpg, 7.0 apg, 1.9spg, 1.1bpg

Drexler:
90-91: 21.5ppg, 48 fg%, 6.7rpg, 6.0 apg, 1.8spg
91-92: 25ppg, 47 fg%, 6.6rpg, 6.7apg, 1.8spg

Mullin:
90-91: 25.7 ppg, 54 fg%, 5.4rpg, 4 apg, 2.1spg
91-92: 25.6ppg, 52 fg%, 5.6rpg. 3.5 apg, 2.1spg

It's a lot closer than you think.

You still havent. BC agrees with me overall. His post about why Mullin and Isiah were the last two considered perfectly sums up everything Ive been saying.

The only disagreement here is Shakes appears to have Mullin as a top 8 player. Better than Scottie.

You already admitted to not knowing how good Richmond was, so lets not throw stones.

Wrong.

I admitted to him having better stats in 91 than I remember.

Don't take your frustrations out on me.

Please go back and find a single time in this thread where I ever said that (A) Mullin was a top 8 player or (B) that he was better than Scottie.

Doesnt this post suggest they are at least close if not equal?

I can only assume you think Mullin was at least top 8. You are going crazy because Im calling him the 13th best.

If not, you'd be saying he was on the bottom of the roster, which has been my point all along.

Did you even watch basketball back then?

Byron is all over the place.

We were talking about 91, the year I mentioned in regards to Rich Mitchmond.
