Right Lat tightness. So much for trading him anytime soon.

This might be looked at as Theo's first big mistake. Why wasn't he traded a couple of weeks ago? Move 'em while they are hot.

He said he will miss 2 starts. He has been pitching through it but its not going to go away until he rests it for a week or so. This shouldn't hurt the trade value much. Teams need to start bidding against eachother for him. Theo isn't taking the first offer anyways.

I would be interested to know where, exactly, the tightness is in the lat.

It certainly hasn't affected his performances of late. As long as he comes back with another good start after coming off the DL this shouldn't be a problem.

Unload his ass ASAP. I can see him getting lit up down the road. He's a # 3 at best who I would not trust in the playoffs.

Could it be that teams who have contacted Theo at this point and are trying to work out a deal don't want the Cubs to keep rolling him out there every 5th day and that is why he was placed on the DL?
If not, this certainly doesn't help his trade value in any way. If this turns out to be a more serious injury this will just be another set back in the rebuilding process.

It's not serious, but they wanted to shut him down to ensure it didn't turn into something worse. They will get him off the DL when he's eligible and after he has another start or two and shows he's okay...away he will go. It will be interesting to see if the Cubs do talk to him about a new contract with the team after the season is over. I could see him returning if the price is right. They don't have enough ready prospects to fill out a decent rotation for 2013 and if they could work out a 2-3 year deal for reasonable money, it might be worthwhile.

He's 36. I don't think he will be getting a 3 year deal. But, I could see him coming back on a severe hometown discount.

On the plus side of his DL stint, it may be the last we ever have to see Wells.
