I love this trade for the White Sox. It could improve Boston as well. Time to fill some seats Sox fans.

Still more than a month until the trade deadline. A lot can happen in that time.

The Sox had officially given up on Stewart when they sent him down for Axlerod.

I like Lillibridge. Great super sub who had finally learned to accept his role in the league. His defensive role is filled by Escobar and Danks. He was the best bat off the bench which now becomes Hudson.

If Youklis' numbers stay the same as with the Red Sox this year, he's still hitting about 75 points higher than the combination of Hudson/Morel. Think about that level of bad.

The next move is to get some great pinch hitter type from a non contender for nothing and release Hudson, who has no real role on this team anymore. The guy doesn't have to be able to field much as defensive replacement is covered. Just need someone who is going to get you a good at bat.

The Sox have a guy in AAA named Tyler Kuhn who could fill the utility role. He's played 2B, 3B and LF this season. He's currently hitting .275 after hitting .333 between AA and AAA last season. He's also a left handed hitter.

Conor Jackson and Dan Johnson are down there too, if you want to go the AAAA route. Nothing too exciting, but these guys at least have a track record of hitting major league pitching.

Couple of things about Youk, his nickname "The Greek God of Walks" is a bit odd, because he

a. Isn't Greek, and
b. isn't walking (at least this year, but his carer OBP is good)

Love this trade. Kenny put the Sox in position to win the division by spend about $.12 on the dollar for Youk. The Sox offense just got even better. Hopefully the Tigers don't wake up.

With the game-winning hit today by Escobar this trade has already yielded a win.

Youklis is 6-14 recently and felt he was as healthy as he has been in a while. This move could result in having a lineup with no holes.

Might as well just give them the trophy now.

Hell, they're so loaded that they can probably cut someone and bring up Kenneth so he can get a ring too.

There is no need for a super sub. Ventura doesn't use his bench enough and Escobar/Danks have the defense backed up. They need a veteran bat with lots of experience pinch hitting who is comfortable in that role. The Cubs usually have one of these types in their starting lineup.

I like your thinking. Then, let Kenny play a game like they used to do with Minnie Minoso and have Kenny/Kenneth and the Danks brothers all start.

Where does he bat? I'm a little sick of a .215 hitter in the three hole. With Youk, Konerko can now bat third where he belongs with Dunn at 4. Youk at 5 to me is easy. Then AJ, Rios, Tankand Ramirez. This line up looks pretty good.

I guess I would keep Morel, if I had a choice. Better fielding 3rd, and younger, although I don't think either one is really cut out to be much. Seems like the Sox are starting to bump up against the lack of prospects in the organization. Bring McPhereson back up? I don't think he's any better than Morel. I don't know that you could get anything reasonable for Morel right now -- he hit .320 in about 300 ABs in AAA, so you'd think he could do better than .180 in the majors, but with that batting line and the injury, I don't see other teams willing to take too much of a risk on him.

Maybe. Maybe not. You know it's a funny game. Aren't the Tigers already supposed to be a supreme juggernaut that can't be beaten after the addition of The Great Prince Fielder? Sometimes shit doesn't work out the way you think. Most of the time.

Me too. The Sox should stick the guy who gets on base more than Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols, Joey Votto, Miguel Cabrera, and Starlin Castro down in the nine hole so Youk can bat third.

That was my refrain all off season long on the Tigers, but adding a good starter like Garza is going to help.

rack 'em

altho as a side note, why did "tank" catch on as viciedo's nickname? ozzie had one for him on his first day of spring training: the cuban pimp. that's the one i'm sticking with!

It's going to be tough for him to give the Sox less than they were getting and they gave away nothing to get him.

You would think so. But Garza is a strange guy. The kind that might annoy his teammates. I believe he was disliked in Tampa pretty universally. Now, if he gets in a groove and hits a top form cycle and goes 10-1 or something, that shit doesn't matter. But if he comes in there and pitches .500 and throws shit around the dugout and agitates the rest of the team, I'd rather take my chances with whatever AAA guy I've got.
