Rodman: Greatest rebounder ever

Try again

2 Hall of Famers and a White guy who could dunk

Petrovic career PPG: 15.4

Don't worry about real facts.

Im sorry. That was wrong. My mistake. I grabbed Petrovic's per 36 minutes stats

Per 36 minutes
Petro: 20.9
Mullin: 20.0

Per game Mullin had a legendary 18.2

There are some respected NBA fan CSFMBers who think Petro was on his way to be what Dirk is now, the best Euro player ever.

I may have been mistaken with Mullin. His numbers were certainly great. Not sure if one would adjust for how Run n Gun the West was at that time, but he was good. Certainly good enough to warrant a shot at the Dream Team. I guess he may have been 11th instead of 13th.

Another person disagrees with RPB :P

The rehab part of the Mullin story is not dramatic, which befits his persona and his game -- all economy, no frills needed. He went into rehab dirty and came out clean. He says there was no relapse and no return, and I never met anyone who believes differently. Mullin just beat it, and his career turned around immediately. It was that sudden. He averaged 26.5 points per game in his first booze-free season (1988-89) and 25.1 and 25.7 in his next two, the ones that mattered when Dream Team candidates were being identified.

What other bins do you have? And do you keep them in your garage or your crawlspace?

At the time of that Olympics I was hanging out at Quencher's a lot. My friend Tom and I were in there drinking and talking about how ridiculously easy the gold medal was going to be. Two regulars, a guy named Andy Servatko and a Puerto Rican dude named Teli, who fancied themselves big hoops guys, overheard us and butted into the conversation. They suggested the U.S. might actually lose. My friend and I offered them every opponent plus 30 for $100 bucks a game- all games. They took the fucking bet. I think 32 was as close as any final got. Throughout the Olympics the two of them kept repeating, "Anything can happen in sports." To this day whenever anyone says, "Anything can happen" and my friend Tom and I are together, one of us will say, "except the Dream Team winning by less than 30."

Look, I dont know whats so crazy. I thought Isiah should have been on the team because I thought the idea was to have all the NBA superstars from that era. I think Isiah would have to be one if you're making a list.

Almost everyone here seems to agree Mullin was the last NBA guy added. (or Pippen) I would take Mullin off before Pippen.

Then when I said he was top 20, I was saying he was a great player, not sure if he was top 10 (or 11 in this case) especially if you're looking at an era.

Petrovic, Hakeem, and Rodman are all Hall of Famers. Not sure why that was being laughed at, since it was an answer to what NBAers are better.

Shakes Chris Mullin love not withstanding, I havent said anything crazy here. I know that era of NBA as well as anyone here.

Mullin put up real good offensive stats for 5 years in a wide open Western conference where teams were averaging 110 pts a game. His career resume for is the worst of the NBA players on that team.

He was the last guy on that roster. Isiah should have been there in my, and a lot of other people's, opinions.

Nobody was actually laughing at saying Hakeem was better than Mullin, right? That'd be like laughing at someone for saying Joe Montana was better than Jim Kelley.

I don't think Hakeem was an American at that time though, was he? Petrovic sure wasn't. And we all know why Thomas wasn't on the team. Jordan didn't want him on it.

Pretty sure nobody questioned that Dominique would have made it easily over Pippen. That's crazy.

Right but at some point, I said Mullin wasnt a top 10 NBAer, but he was top 20. BC asked me who was better. Some of those included Non american guys.

I never said there were 12 players, not on the team better than him.

My point was that he was the last guy taken and Id have him 15th or 16th of players in the NBA at the time and people went crazy.

No, I think some people thought I was saying Hakeem and Petro should have made the US team. I obviously wasnt. I was saying in terms of players in the NBA....Mullin was about 15th or 16th.

"But you have to have to understand what was going on then. Everybody kept waiting for Magic to die. Every time he'd run up the court everybody would feel sorry for the guy, and he'd get all that benefit of the doubt. Magic came across like, 'All this is my stuff.' Really? Get outta here, dude. He was on the declining end of his career."

Drexler had played exquisitely in the 1992 All-Star Game in Orlando, although the MVP award eventually went to Magic, who had been added by Commissioner Stern as a special thirteenth player to the Western Conference roster. "If we all knew Magic was going to live this long, I would've gotten the MVP of that game, and Magic probably wouldn't have made the Olympic team."

Larry was more washed up, due to injuries, than Magic at that point and he made the team. Magic just led a Kareem-less LA team to the Finals the year before also. He was gonna make the team regardless.

Clyde's right about the 92 AS game but who the hell cares.

Yeah, Larry was just a mascot for that team, but Magic was incredibly out of shape on that Olympic squad. Remember he had a year off prior to the Olympics, and he was looking pretty fat in Barcelona.

Clyde isnt right. I mean, if you wanna say Magic wouldnt have gotten all those shots at the end, thats fine.

But he did make the shots. Its not like it was a symbolic MVP. Magic was ballin in that 4th quarter
