Just thought I would start this about 3 months early and offer updates as they become
available. Still really early and no dates and times announced for free stages....
Here is what we know from the website at the end of March though.

Main acts.... Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Beach Boys, Zac Brown Band, Neil Diamond, Lady
Antebellum

Free Stages... ( ones I have heard of ).... The Avett Bros. , Steve Miller Band, Common,
Cake, Scorpions, Lupe Fiasco, The Head and The Heart, Joss Stone, Gavin DeGraw,
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.

So far I am not blown away but I will likely go out of my way to see Head and the Heart,
possibly the Avett Brothers. They will be adding many more acts in the weeks to come.
No one I would pay to see at the Ampitheater yet.

Quote is misleading.... You would have to buy a ticket to see Beach Boys, Zac Brown
and Neil Diamond..... other ones are free with admission. I wouldn't mind seeing some
of those. I have seen Steve Miller before and he is pretty good, Cake puts on a good show

Yeah Cake is good. Common is the greatest rapper of all time and Id like to see Lupe.

Not sure Id pay for Neil Diamond

I have some Neil Diamond cds but I don't think I would drop $30 or more to see him today.
I will post dates when they become official for free stage acts. Summerfest is a good time.

Hank, it is a good time. Kinda what Chicagofest was once envisioned to be...which turned into the taste of Chicago Killing Grounds....they charge for Summerfest..but we can't charge for a similar event because????

Summerfest is a more permanent facility, they have some of the structures there year round (but not open) so when it is running for 3 weeks? it does not feel like they rolled up a bunch of trailer and portapottys.

They have a majority of the structures there all year. When Summerfest isn't running they have all
different kinds of ethnic festivals so it gets used all summer long.

exactly. German Fest, Italian Fest, Mexican Fest, Irish Fest, Indian Summer Festival...all kinds of shit!
Hey, who would've thought having a dedicated park and eating space to have festivals was a good idea?

Keep checking the thread Hawg, I will be up there at least 2 nights if not more. Would
be cool to get a group up there though. Waiting to see who plays when.

Another bump, more bands announced for free stages. Not sure when actual dates and times will be
announced.

Opens today. Anyone planning on going? I am definitely going Sunday, possibly Thursday
although that may be a stretch. I will have to see how getting home after midnight on a
workday goes for me on Sunday night/ Monday morning.

I'll be there Saturday. Have to decide between RHCP and The Roots for the 10pm show.

Go with The Roots. RHCP are one of the most boring live bands since they stopped doing drugs.

The guy who replaced Frusciante is no good. The smart thing to do would have been to lay low until Frusciante needed more money for drugs. It gives you time to refine and polish your material so as it isn't as mind numbing and uninspired like I'm With You was, and it lets you avoid having to make your guitar tech the lead guitarist.

Also, Flea is so damn annoying. If I made a list of people I would like to hit with a baseball bat, he would be in the top 3. He would probably occupy 2 of the 3 spots. Fucking clown.

Well, some might argue that RHCP material has been mind numbing since Blood Sugar...

His name is Josh Klinghoffer. It's funny to me that the guy that plays all of Frusciante's parts is "no good." He was a their backup touring guitarist....whatever that means.

Yeah, he can pull some of it off, but that doesn't really mean much. DJ Ashba can play Slash's stuff better than Slash can.

It means when John a-Frusciante not feel so good, he play-a the guitar parts for him.

Anyone going to be up there Sunday? I am heading up alone so would be happy to raise
an elbow with not a complete stranger if they are there. I'll buy. If not that is ok. Although
cleaner than most Summerfest goers, they are quite friendly and open to conversation.
