Oh. I thought we were talking about their content. I don't really care that Yahoo breaks a story 9 seconds before espn does. Good for them.

I think their content is better too, but they're breaking stories way faster than 9 seconds better. In last year's draft, they had some information nearly an hour earlier than ESPN. Adrian Wojnarowski is probaby the best in the business.

Best in the business at what? There's no way you learn as much about the NBA from Wojo as you do Thorpe or Pruiti. I agree he's a good writer but he's very replaceable. I don't think the two guys I mentioned are.

That's fine. I'm just happy you never mentioned Chris Broussard. :D

I did neglect to mention my man Stephen (N)A(i)Smith.

Agreed. Nobody slobbers over the Yankees, Red Sox, Patriawts, and LeBron like ESPN.

yahoo's website has been clunky and slow and too ad-ey. it's almost as bad as the Score's website.

Consumer Reports is a subscription based service and that seems to do pretty well. Getting people to transition from free cheese to paid subscribers is difficult. The problem with the newspaper model was just that it was inherently flawed because its lack of readership sucked a lot of the advertising money out of it. No one seems to know how to effectively use online advertising.

They really had no chance. It was like expecting telegraphs to survive telephones. The internet was literally designed to be an information sharing service.

The only future for them is in custom content. There is no future in reprinting things they didn't write and instead purchased from other sources. The Chicago Tribune basically needs to become a magazine.

Yep. And that's a deathknell to the syndicates. Makes you wonder about gocomics.com
