Rain is liquid water in the form of droplets that have condensed from atmospheric water vapor and then precipitated—that is, become heavy enough to fall under gravity.

Breaking news from The Boyd Weather Center:

Thunder is the sound caused by lightning. Depending on the nature of the lightning and distance of the listener, thunder can range from a sharp, loud crack to a long, low rumble (brontide). The sudden increase in pressure and temperature from lightning produces rapid expansion of the air surrounding and within a bolt of lightning. In turn, this expansion of air creates a sonic shock wave which produces the sound of thunder, often referred to as a clap, crack, or peal of thunder. The distance of the lightning can be calculated by the listener based on the time interval from when the lightning is seen to when the sound is heard.

This is info you can use folks.

  Pretty good, Boyd. All you need is some quotes and italics.

When the National Weather Service, based out of Romeoville locally, and Silver Spring, Maryland nationnally, issues a Severe Thunderstorm "Warning", it means that a storm is imminent, and moving thru the area. Folks in the path of the storm should take shelter immediately until it passes.

Now, the "NSSL" (National Severe Storms Lab) is based out of Noman, Oklahoma, and they track these severe cells, sometimes issuing further weather "warnings" like a 'Tornado Warning', which means a wind shaped funnel is on the ground wreaking havoc!! If you hear sirens, take cover IMMEDIATELY!

Arkansas is the 25th state in the union. It is located in the South Central portion of the United States, located near the Ozark Mountain Range. It is ranked 29th in land mass, 32nd in population, and 50th in branches on the family tree. It's main school is the University of Arkansas, home of the Razorbacks, better known as a doormat of the SEC. Former Beach Boy touring guitarist, the Glen Campbell looking Glen Campbell had an album named Arkansas, but he doesn't remember that. 42nd President of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, was governor of Arkansas when he was elected to higher office, he hasn't been back to Arkansas since.

I am really glad you are bored at work today, otherwise I would be miserable here at the office.

Breaking News:

The Boyd Weather Center has just learned that Harry Volkman is still alive. Also, Robinson Cano may be the best second basemen in the Bud "Allan H" Selig's "Major" League Baseball, but there may be one better, too.

I looked at the sky, and didn't like what I saw, so we went downstairs for thirty minutes. No big deal.

Yes. My children were to be used as human shields.

Of course not. In a nuclear attack, you stop, drop, and roll.

The temp just dropped about twenty degrees, not even a slight breeze, and all animals and birds are hiding. It's about to go down.

I was out walking the dog, casually watching a lightning storm way out west. Or so I thought. Had to double time it back home when the wind suddenly kicked up and the pillars of heaven shook.
