Did you see the preview for this?

It's a movie where Mark Walhberg grows up with a teddy bear that comes to life, but not the teddy bear is in the way of Mark's relationship with his girlfriend.

Its a Seth McFarlane (Family Guy) movie where he is the voice of Ted the teddy bear, and Mark's girlfriend is Mila Kunis.

It's one of those that's going to be real silly, but I have interest in it.

Does Mila Kunis kiss another woman in this one, too?

That looks like it's pretty funny. I'm a little concerned w/ Seth doing the Peter Griffin voice for the bear.

That's partly why I'm interested.

the gimmick is funny but the movie looks utterly predictable. if it wasn't so formulaic it might be interesting.

Yeah, there looks like some pretty funny scenes in there. Probably would be a good date movie.

T-Bone: Hey, do you want to see a stuffed bear that talks like Peter Griffin in a movie by Seth McFarlane?

Girl: Who are those people?

T-Bone: I meant do you want to come over and bang.

Girl: Sure

T-Bone: 8)

I saw the trailer and facepalmed. I like McFarlane, so I hope it is better than it looks.

Har Har Har.... you guys are assholes and that is why I love you.... wait that didn't come out right.
I wouldn't tell the girl what we were going to see I would just put her in a headlock and maker her
go to the show. Ok, maybe not a headlock but give her a daisy or something and ask her to see a
movie and promise dinner afterwards, but if it wasn't going well I wouldn't take her to dinner. Does
that make sense?

Comes out this Friday.

Ebert gave it 3.5 stars.

Will try to see this before weekend is over.

I dont think you have to be a faux intellectual to shit on it. This movie looks truly awful. But so does the Abe Lincoln vampire movie and supposedly thats good. I have no idea what audiences are thinking.

Yeah, the commenters at Gawkers are giving Leitch crap for it, too. He's responding to a few of them, as well.

Not that you all need me to tell you this, but if you see a movie that you're interested in, go see it...eff what the critics think. Someone can start a Mini Ditka-esque thread about "Your Favorite Movies that were critically panned".

I think I'm going to see this next weekend. I thought the preview was Huh-larry-us. I think Peter Griffin Bear will become an icon for this age.

All you "family guy" fanboys can rejoice. this is your movie.

it is not mine.

i wanted to like this movie because there were some very big laughs. but there are just too many macfarlaned lines and references that killed it for me. i call it "reference comedy". it's not a joke that you just reference something. make a joke out of it for god's sake.

he was on the right track with everything involving "flash gordon". that was absolute gold. but the "airplane!" reference was dumb, the cutesiness of the relationship between john (wahlberg) and his girlfriend was irritating and not really believable...

and again, explaining of the jokes. i'll give you two hints: "aliens", and brandon routh. you'll understand both when you see the movie. both jokes absolutely clang like metal against metal because macfarlane either takes us for infants or just really, really is in love with his ability to pull references out of his ass for no reason.

all in all, it's a predictable story, it's a manufactured story, and really, i cannot believe a girl would ever stay 4 years with a guy who has an open friendship with a talking teddy bear.

so, while it made me laugh at times, and for those looking to get away for a few hours won't be disappointed...i'm still not recommending it.

:D :D out of :D :D :D :D

and pot jokes are done to death.

I would recommend it without question. Very good, not great.
