HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS ARE FORECAST THROUGH SATURDAY WITH HIGHS IN THE 90S... AND POSSIBLY EVEN NEARING 100 AT TIMES. DURING THE HOTTEST AFTERNOONS HEAT INDEX READINGS OVER 105 DEGREES ARE POSSIBLE.

A WARM FRONT IS FORECAST TO MOVE SLOWLY NORTH ACROSS THE AREA TODAY... THEN STALL OUT NEAR OR JUST NORTH OF THE REGION MUCH OF THIS WEEK. ITS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION THAT BOUTS OF THUNDERSTORMS COULD PUSH THIS FRONT SOUTH AND BRING SOME RELIEF FROM THE HEAT AT TIMES THIS WEEK... BUT CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THE HEAT WAVE COULD BE RATHER UNRELENTING. THE LONG DURATION OF THIS HEAT WAVE WILL TAKE A TOLL ON THOSE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO HEAT. HOSPITALS... EMERGENCY MANAGERS... AND THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR HANDLING HEAT RELATED ILLNESS SHOULD PREPARE NOW FOR THE POTENTIAL OF AN EXTENDED HEAT WAVE.

I swear I live in the perfect weather "zone."

We get nailed once a year with snow and in the summer I get to see really cool weather activity to the southwest and east. It seems like the weather pattern always splits in Barrington.

4th of July Fireworks Cancellation

Because of extremely dry weather conditions and the potential for high winds the Village of Mundelein has decided to cancel its annual 4th of July fireworks demonstration. The decision was made after discussions with Fire Safety personnel and a representative of the fireworks company, Pyrotecnico, Inc. The Village of Mundelein fireworks display is very close to a heavily populated and wooded residential subdivision which greatly increased the concerns for public safety. The risk of fire from falling cinders was a serious concern. The fireworks reschedule date has yet to be determined.

Please help us inform the public of this cancellation by using whatever communication tools you have through facebook, twitter, announcements, employee bulletin boards, e-newsletters, etc. to get the word out.

What the hell was that? Got about 2 inches in 20 minutes (guestimate) in Wrigley area. Active storms in the area. Best to keep your head on a swivel for a few more hours.
