I'd probably rather have Rizzo than Lahair. But what do I know?

Hard not to argue...

More than 20 would be outstanding.

Yeah I think 15-20 is reasonable. Any more is gravy.

I'm too lazy to find the other thread, but I posted that I'm expecting him to have numbers similar to Ryan Howard's rookie season: About 85 games, .288 avg, 22 HR, 63 RBI.

Extra base hits: In the 60's every year, probably close to 70.
Runs and RBI's: 90-110 every year.
Solid defense at 2B. Above average.
Multiple All-Star appearances.
Team leader type, possible captain.
If he does all this for 15 years, Hall of Fame.

So yeah, I wouldn't trade him.

Agreed on the numbers.....

He's fucked.

Ding ding ding.

Screw Rizzo just get a couple veterans off the scrap heap, the Cubs will be fine

And I don't know why LaHairs fan club would have issues since LaHair is still playing everday but has been moved to the outfield.

I am beyond thrilled LaHair has proven me wrong so far.

I'd think his supporters would be dancing naked in the street in joy. They've been shown to be right so far and he's still playing everyday.

The Cub fan in me that has been beaten over the head one too many times is worried that the end of the world is coming if 2 position prospects work out in a 3 year period.

My God Castro is the first Cub prospect to make the All Star Team twice since MARK FREAKING GRACE

i am pretty legitimately OMFG NOOOOOOO with this rizzo for matt moore trade i made. granted it's a small sample size and rizzo is only 40 at bats into this...

Anthony Rizzo (2012): 10g 40ab 7r 15h 3h2b 0h3b 4hr 9rbi 1bb 5k 0sb 1cs .375avg .390obp .750slg 1.140ops

Matt Moore (2012): 16g 16gs 5w 5l 0sv 0bsv 0hld 0cg 0sho 95.0ip 90h 51r 44er 13hr 45bb 93k 4.17era 1.42whip .251baa

however, it's only 40 at bats for RIZZSANITY(TM) and well, matt moore is facing all the adjustments that come with him and he's been fairly consistent and pitching better as of late. matt moore was OMFG #s in the minors and i still think he's a grade A prospect up here, and with brandon beachy going down the long-term future of my pitching core was threatened so now i've got strasburg, bumgarner, moore, and hellickson to spearhead my rotation for the foreseeable future. also, right as rizzo came up my trade partner wanted him so bad he relented and didn't seek jesus montero or vinnie pestano or jake mcgee, the latter two will be closing next year and the former was looking "quite good" save an awful june.

as les grobstein says, time will tell. i'm still scared tho if rizzo ends up being a perennial .300/30/100 bat i prolly done goof'd, i figured there was no way in hell this guy who was seeking way more than i wanted to give up for matt moore would accept the trade as it was... but i still think that i got matt moore on a buy-low opportunity and i sold rizzo relatively high cuz i sold him at a price where he was basically expected to do this. it doesn't help that the sports talk radio promotion machine is all over rizzo like the demigod/adonis he is. there's going to be a surge of kids named anthony in chicago at the rate that we're going.

I got into a discussion of the Cubs future infield.

It was looks like SS is taken thank you. And 1st looks good.

Then it turned to 3rd and Vitters. Wait and see on him but he should get a chance soon,

Then we talked about Barney. I see him as a good 5th infielder in the future but if the rest of the team is solid they could do a lot wose than this guy who plays good D, will hit about 270 with a little pop.

Solid defense and acceptable batting average - yes. But where exactly do you get "a little pop"? His career slugging is .351.

No, Bryan. It's ridiculous. Nobody is comparing Sale to Randy Johnson. That idiot IMU compared him to Erik Bedard and the answer was that Johnson is probably a better comparison. And it is- from his physical build and the way he throws the slider. The difference is that Johnson was far less polished at such a young age. But I don't think any Sox fan anywhere is fantasizing that Sale might have the career Randy Johnson had. It's stupid. Most of us just want him to get through the season.

When these guys say "the ceiling is Votto or the ceiling is A-Rod", they're going to be disappointed if they fall anywhere short of that. I'm not saying that about you. I know you know the game far better than that. If I told most Cub fans that Soler was going to give them six or seven seasons averaging DeAza's numbers that wouldn't be enough for them. The truth is, he's unlikely to ever approach that. And Rizzo is more likely to be Adam LaRoche than Joey Votto. And that's a good player. But it just won't be enough.

The comparison I made with Bedard wasn't about pitching styles. It was about starting off a major league career very well...and then injuries and whatever take its toll and you don't end up being the star people thought you might be. Sale hasn't even completed one full year of starting. Saying Chris Sale is a star is just as bad as saying Anthony Rizzo is a star. Anthony Rizzo could be Chris Shelton. Unlikely, but possible.

The term "ceiling" is just used to set the height of how good a player can be. It doesn't mean that is the expectation. It is simply "best-case scenario." You seem unable to understand the concept.

edit: I already stated what I think Brett Jackson's floor is. Selective reading much?

Erik Bedard was 6-10 4.59 his rookie season and 6-8 4.00 his second season. Do you really consider this starting off a career 'very well' or are you just talking out of your ass?

Maybe because he was left-handed, maybe because he was tall and skinny, Sale grew up wanting to emulate Randy Johnson. He has done a very good job, as fellow AL All-Star Joe Mauer can attest from watching him closely the last three seasons.

"He's tough," Mauer said. "He has that unusual delivery and a (slider) like Randy Johnson. He's nasty. He has all that velocity but for a young pitcher I've always been impressed with how confident he is with his secondary pitches. He can throw anything at any time."

Excellent marketing strategy. Posting more and more sox talk under the Rizzo topic is ingenious.

 You are digging in on this comparison to Johnson, eh?

I can only imagine the shit you would give a Cub fan if they made such a comparison of one of their players.

I really like Sale and I hope he goes on to have even close to the career of Johnson. But to make a comparison to Johnson with him only have 15 career starts is just stupid.
