I know it's been out for a while, but we watched this on Sunday. We were so bored we did a fast forward through the middle hour of the movie. We watched the last 20 minutes or so which wasn't bad. It was pretty obvious why the critics/oscars liked it.

1) It was French.
2) It talked about how awesome movies are. If you ever want to win an Oscar, just make a movie that pretends like making movies is more than just a way to make lots of money and get attention. The critics will love it even if you bore your audience.

Watched 20 minutes and turned it off.

I think when people tell you it is a good movie, it is like some inside joke that they know you will now pay for it and it sucks so bad, they crack up after they tell you

No, but I assume it's the same critically acclaimed boredom.

Solid assumption.

I liked both. But Hugo had to be seen in 3D.
