Billy Corgan 'devastated' by Dennis Flemion boating tragedy
July 10, 2012, 5:16 AM EST
WENN

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is "devastated" after rocker Dennis Flemion went missing during a boating trip on Saturday (07Jul12).The Frogs star is said to have been with friends and family on Wind Lake in Racine, Wisconsin when he went for a swim and did not return. Divers have been searching for Flemion and continued their hunt on Monday (09Jul12), but reports suggest he is presumed dead. A post on the website of music label Matador Records reads, "Dennis Flemion, one half of the Milwaukee duo known as The Frogs, was identified earlier today as the missing swimmer from a Saturday afternoon disappearance on Racine, WI's Wind Lake. "Our thoughts go out to (bandmate and brother) Jimmy, the rest of the Flemion family, their friends and everyone who was lucky enough to know Dennis. Simply saying, 'he'll be missed' doesn't come close to covering it." Corgan took to his Twitter.com page after hearing the news and wrote, "I'm devastated by the loss of my friend Dennis Flemion. Words can't explain the sorrow. A tragic loss. Please pray for his family." Flemion had a brief stint in The Smashing Pumpkins playing live keyboards from 1996 to 1997.

Eddie Vedder is/was very good friends with him also. The lyrics to PJ's song 'Smile' was based around a note he wrote to Eddie back in the mid 90's

Very sad :(

You would think a guy in The Frogs would be able to handle the water better. Poor choice for a band name...

Very cool version. Thanks for posting. Believe I saw these guys open for PJ at Summerfest in 1995
but can't confirm that. I believe it was them, Bad Religion and then Pearl Jam.

Now he's in heaven with Ernest Borgnine and the other Smashing Pumpkins touring keyboard player. And good dolphin's grandma.

You're correct. EV came out on stage for a song or two. They covered a Neil Diamond song.

That's all I can remember.

That could be. I know the show I went to they played Forever In Blue Jeans. The only
time they have ever performed that one. Eddie didn't know a lot of the lyrics.
