I would demand he be in the trade and at least a few young pitching prospects.

Sometimes they trade a prospect for Jeff Shaw and the prospect ends up hitting 500 home runs

In fairness, they also sent Carlos Santana for Casey Blake. Colletti always can be fleeced, but who knows what is going on out there with the new owners coming in- although they just re-overpaid Ethier...

Something strange is afoot with Dempster. His spot in the rotation has been adjusted for no apparent reason. Hopefully we have a showcase start on friday and a suitcase depart on Saturday.

Garza is a solid 3. He's a poor teams #2

Wrong.

No-I am right. If you are watching the game tonight VS Detroit, Garza is illustrating my point. He's a decent starter, but nothing special.

They better eat salary and get something more than decent.

The Cubs could have their cake and eat it too with Dempster.

Get a prospect or two now in a trade and resign him in December.

I got this weird feeling he's bound for the south side. The Sox may have a leg up if they want him because he has a no trade clause and may push to go to the Sox because of his family situation if he knows there's a choice. They might be able to get him for a decent prospect.

I hope if it's his last start Friday as a Cub the fans give him a nice send off when he leaves the field. Class act all the way. See you in the booth in a few years Ryan!

The trade rumors are going to get ridiculous until he is traded. They say that Theo said that he's going to get prospects for Dempster. He actually was going to be driving in Park Ridge and was going to take Prospect and Dempster.

Toronto just lost their third starting pitcher. They were rumored to be in on Dempster or Garza before this rough patch. Interesting.

Jays have some good prospects...too good of prospects though to get without sending them Garza. d'Arnaud is offensively probably only trailing Rizz in AAA. Hechevarria looks like he is Castro who can also field well.

If Garza is traded, it will be for two pitching prospects. Dempster will likely be traded for pitching, but could possibly be moved for a #1 position prospect.

Would anyone consider trading Randy Wells and Josh Vitters to the Padres for Chase Headley?

Due to the dearth of 3B productivity, Headley should command some good prospects, neither of those mentioned are in that category.

I think the Cubs are gonna count on at least one of Vitters, Baez, and Lake being good enough to be an everyday 3B in the next few years instead of looking to trade for a 3B.

That being said, if the Padres would do that trade, I would in a heartbeat and then flip Headley for some pitching. I think if we see the Cubs make any trade, it will be for pitching, pitching, and more pitching.

I can't see the Padres having any interest in Wells given his salary (2.7M) and shit production.

Let's hope Dempster gets his sorry ass back on the active list so he can be launched.

Another example of when the pressure is on, he folds.

Any guy that had as much success as Dempster had as a closer, has proven he can perform well in pressure situations.

Except in the playoffs when it mattered and when on the verge of getting traded...

Abbatacola saying Dempster told Cubs he doesn't want to pitch in the AL. Is this true?

Was probably more like Dempsters agent told him" no A.L. team is interested, you will get crushed in there"..Dempster is like Wood..just wants to be a cub and have fans cheer when you lose and suck... fuck this clown..get anything for this turd and take it.

I guarantee when they do trade Dempster you will be complaining they did not get enough for him.

That'd be pretty bad if it's true. Why mention it and cut your potential trade partners in half?

I was listening to Goff and Drinky too, and I did not hear him say Dempster told the Cubs he did not want to be traded to the AL, but just that Dempter did not want to be traded to the AL. Not sure if it makes a difference or not...

Yeah maybe he just meant that Dempster told him he didn't want to go to the AL. But if he's telling reporters, you'd think he told management.

But maybe not.
