I found this documentary to be very good. It covers many different segments of the food industry. Also, it shows how much food production has changed in the last fifty years. Even more frightening, the last twenty.

If you have Netflix, it is currently streaming.

If you liked that, I'd recommend reading Omnivore's Dilemma.

i have found just cutting out as much processed food as you can helps dramatically. let your body do the processing, it very much prefers it that way.

I found it long and drawn out - but it was pretty eye opening in a bad way.

No Joke! My 19 yr old son turned Vegetarian six months ago after we watched this. I dont eat red meat, try to eat organic everything and cut down on processed foods. I've lost 40 lbs. That movie literally changed my life.

I think there is a lot of confusion among the public about exactly what the label "organic" actually means.

It is indeed a good doc. Still, I'd personally torture a thousand animals to avoid suffering a single vegetarian.

Processed foods aren't the problem. It's the fact that processed foods in general taste the best when they are bad for you. I can go into any bbq or chinese place in the country and eat stuff much less healthy than processed food.

While there are certainly concerns regarding and problems with the commercial production of animals- particularly beef- for mass consumption, I don't think the answer for man, animals, or the planet is for man to abdicate his place at the top of the food chain.
