It's true. Fo Shizzo my Rizzo has ignited the resurgence of the Cubs organization. Once Vitters, Lake, Vogel, Saunders Baez and Almora are up this will be an offensive force no one can reckon with.

Now they may not have the worst record and shot at the best prospect.

I don't think there is a can't miss 1st overall pick next year. Just being in the top 10 should be great for them and not being in the top 3 or 4 will save a few million. The Nationals 2 #1 overall picks is the exception not the rule

Uh, eh, eh, look, and again, I've been saying it all year long, this team, and Theo knew what he was doing the whole, but eh, eh, uh, again, this team is way ahead of schedule, and in point of fact, look, I know that I've said Chicago baseball was bad, but that really had more to do with the south side of town, eh, uh, uh, my partner is the arbiter of all things Sox and he can tell you, bad... just bad, if you think this team can beat Detroit, for the love of God, think again, Cabrera, Fielder, Verlander, and now adding the top pitcher Fister off the DL, no chance, and uh, eh, if you think they're standing pat, well, uh, eh Dave Dombrowski will probably be adding Cole Hamels and Grienke and maybe even Joey Votto, so, so much for the White Sox, I mean for the love of God, bad, just bad, but something is happening eight miles north and it's uh, eeee, it's pretty special, pretty, pretty special, and it's not just Rizzo, it's a whole bunch of guys all pulling together according to Theo's plan, and a Wild Card, well, uh, uh, that certainly isn't out of the question. Keep watching this team. That's alls I'm saying. That's alls I'm saying.

After Dempster and Garza and perhaps even Maholm are traded, the starting rotation will be lousy and I would expect this will not be an issue. It's possible they get young guys up from AA or AAA that pitch well in their place. But it's most likely to be crappy guys like Wells and Volstad that take those spots and help them to that #1 pick. But it has been fun watching the guys win 12 of the last 16 games. In some ways it's a shame to change anything when things are going so well of late. But, it's the big picture that must be the priority, so while it's gonna be a tough pill to swallow, it has to be done.

I fully expect the Cubs to be above .500 in the second half of the year.

Wasn't Appel the consensus #1 this year until he wasn't?

At 13-5, it's the White Sox.

Only 13 games out of the wildcard.

Well then I guess there's only one thing left to do.

What's that?

Win the whole fucking thing.

I'm not too worried about Atlanta, Pittsburgh, LA, NY, St Louis, Arizona, Miami, Milwaukee or Philly.

Since June 24th (the topic of this thread)...no, it hasn't. Dempster, Maholm, Garza, Wood and Samardjia have done a fine job since then.
