Jeff Daniels and Sam Waterson have been awesome from the first episode IMO. Theyve kept me watching. I havent watched last night's episode yet but I probably will today or tomorrow.

Episode 2 wasn't great but the past 2 episodes have been really good. Has it been partisan? Of course. They haven't really challenged any democratic position. That being said the information has been factual. I actually learned something I didn't know last night when it came to the president and guns (researched it after hearing a comment). I honestly would love to get my news that way. I know it would never happen though.

I'm a big fan of Sam Waterson and I catch him every night on TNT to see him putting away all manner of criminals on Law and Order!

That said, this show still kinda blows.

I've watched the first 2 episodes. I was a big fan of The West Wing. I can live with the completely unrealistic way that people talk too fast and over the top of each other. It was a big part of The West Wing and Sports Night and everything that Sorkin writes.

But, I always hate when he has people just start rattling off statistics off the top of their head like Daniels did in the opening scene - about a dozen metrics on American rankings. People don't talk that way.

Otherwise, I'm luke-warm on it through 2 episodes. I'll give it 2 or 3 more. My wife loves the show, though.

Until I see him drinking off the clock he's borderline.

That being said, the word I meant to use was alcoholic.

I generally like the show, but the incredibly unbelieveable leaps of logic are too much. The guy figured out that the BP oil spill was going to be the largest ecological disaster hours after the explosion? Um, really? And besides a well engineer, I can't imagine "blind shear rams" or "blowout preventers" were in the lexicon of anyone in a newsroom. I'm sorry, but that whole scene was completely unbelievable... and it was the climax of the first episode.

That being said, the acting is very good.

I don't think anyone in the cast had knowledge of that technical stuff, they just learned it from a source who had an expansive knowledge of off shore oil drilling. I think I remember one of them knowing someone who was high up at BP.

My personal experience would indicate 'no'.

Yes, the young producer's college roommate or something and his sister also had some inside info he just
happened to be able to weave into the story.

Even the BP executives didn't know about the failure of the blind sheer rams until weeks after the blowout. No one knew the condition of the blowout preventer until much later. As far as they knew the day of the explosion, the well was not leaking. It wasn't until much later (when they had the ROV examine the well head) that they knew they had a serious problem regarding a potential ecological disaster. Well leaks happen all the time, so it was much much later that anyone suspected they might have difficulty capping the well.

I'm sorry, I had to look at this situation for work... so I'm just making people aware that they are taking MASSIVE liberties with their story telling. Sorkin tells a good story... but it is fiction. I'm sure I'll run into someone that gets their current events from the Newsroom like they do with the Daily Show.

The sad thing is that current events are probably played more even-handedly on The Daily Show as opposed to MSNBC, Fox News or CNN. Daily Show is purely satire -- and should not be one's lone source for current events knowledge. The same can be said of the above-mentioned (News?) networks.

As for The Newsroom -- it's appointment television in my house. It does have its preachy moments, but I also understand it shouldn't be taken as 100 percent factual or unbiased.

Hopefully Terry Crews doesn't meet the same fate as Mark Harmon.

The shrink is no Adam Arkin, but not bad.

Sloan had her Josh Lyman Press Briefing.

That depends if Terry is compelled enough to get a Milky Way, even during an armed robbery.

Oh, then there's this...

When Olivia Munn puts on the nerd glasses and speaks Japanese over speaker phone, it's a level seven boner. #newsroom

Pretty decent episdode if you can follow all the jumping around timeline wise. I really like this show.
Sam Watterson going ape shit was classic. I like how they are starting to flesh out Daniels character
with some of his background growing up.
