Mike Smith (PHX) is way worse. 100% flakey asshat. Mike Smith (CHI) at least drafted Seabrook and Keith. His acquisitions of Mironov and Karpovtsev also hold a warm spot in my heart.

I'll touch a thousand burning stovetops before I touch the Luongo contract. I'm especially loath to do so if the CBA is going to make it harder to play Hide The Bad Paper like the poor teams want it to.

In essence, Philadelphia is trading 4 low first-rounder picks for Shea Weber. Good move.

Weber's looking at spending the next 14 years in either Philadelphia or Nashville. $100 large is just the tip of the iceberg if I were making demands. I guess it could be worse, he could be in Columbus.

Yea, 14 years in either market sounds The long term is crazy but maybe he is banking on a salary rollback or term limits being implemented. Whatever floats his boat but I'd rather waste this year in Nashville and then become an UFA next year. Even if something like 5-year contract limits get implemented he'd become an UFA again when he's 31-32 and make bank again.

Don't know how Nashville will be able to afford Weber's contract the way Philly structured it. The small opening in Nashville's championship window should officially be shut and locked for the next couple of years:

No it isn't. AHL crowds, AHL arena, horrible lowest-common-denominator playing style that's helping to ruin the league all over again. I'd prefer that they not exist.


The only thing that's more attractive about Nashville is that nobody will recognize you or hold you to any modicum of a performance standard because the people who do know you are just so gawsh durn happy to have a team. That appeals to people who suck. Me, I'd rather go for the high stakes in Philadelphia, with the promise of endorsement deals and the kind of hockey immortality that the Flyers can give you.


I'm sure existing contracts would be grandfathered in.

I posted before knowing the details of the offer sheet but signing bonuses would not be affected if the new CBA included a salary rollback. So no matter what Shea Weber is gonna be a rich man.

Teams that play Nashville's style will always exist as long as the NHL has as many teams as it does. Nashville as a city is a fun time the few times I've been there.
