Laurie's Planet of Sound is a new and used record store on Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square, near the Davis Theater. As with most used record shops they take in records and CD's from the general public for cash or trade. Employees are usually literate enough in the resale value and relative scarcity or abundance of a given album to deem it worthy of purchase and for what pprice. But just in case, Laurie's has a DO NOT BUY list posted for store clerks, lest the store end up with 16 copied of Pocket Full of Kryptonite (no one needs to level that many coffee tables.) Anyhow, someone snapped a picture of the list and, yada x 3, it ended up on SPIN.com. What do you think-is this soulless hipster elitism or sound business practice?

I'll say that the problem with this is, many many people have a shitload of Eagles CDs. I'm sure that list was informed by the store having a shitload of CDs by them sitting on the shelf. No idea if that's what DB was going for, but the point remains.

When making out our personal lists from this list, we need to set some ground rules.

Let's just say there was a band from Chicago on this list that was fronted by two girls that got in a fight over Dave Grohl that ended up breaking up the band - if I own 4 CD's from them, does that count as 1 or 4?

Nothing wrong with some Veruca Salt love. I'm not sure why they made that list. Everything else on there is understandable, but "American Thighs" was and is still a great album.
