Rosenthal's rumors don't do it for me.

I've also heard the Yankees as another possible destination for Dempster. The rich getting richer or the Yankees trying to fill a glaring hole in their starting rotation?

Fuck him. I am done following this nonsense. If he wants to go to LA then go to LA......on vacation. Put him on the 60 day DL for a bruised vajay and be done with him. I am tired of this same shit happening every single year. If it isn't D Lee than its Aramis and now its Dempster.

There are other players in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball that have such rights. It's not just Ryan Dempster.

I am really really tired of this trend as well. The Cubs should just start trading people in year 4 no matter what before the 10/5 crap can kick in.

What other team that is this awful has a problem trading away players that still could help another team?

I lose respect for guys every year around this time. I understand they have their rights, but you play the game to win championships. If you have a chance to go from a shit team to a contender, you take it. You will be away from your family for 2-3 months, plus they will probably be visiting you. If they don't understand that, then they shouldn't be your family. I lost respect a few years ago when Lee declined a trade in July also. Some guys just have it in them to go for the ring, really sad to see.

No wonder Dempster wants spring training in Arizona.

Plus, he's doing the "fingertip hug" as opposed to giving the full on "grab and pull". Class.

I really thought the Cubs would consider bringing Dempster back next season, after trading him this year. They don't have pitchers ready for the majors yet in AA or AAA. But if the Atlanta deal is lost and they get a lesser prospect in another deal because of Dempster's insistance on going to the Dodgers, I think it's unlikely they consider bringing him back.

They weren't going to bring him back, Steve. Epstein has pretty much said he's cutting more payroll. Cub fans can enjoy a small market team until Theo manages to grow a big market team.

Gotta fill out a rotation and I can't see having Wells or Volstad taking a spot next year (or ever again hopefully). If they could bring him back for 6-7 million a year on a 2 year deal, it might make sense for both parties. If he gets better offers....okay, best of luck to you. they truely have nobody right now that is ready to come up and assume a spot in the rotation and give the team a reasonable chance to win.

I agree that Dempster might be a good resign if reasonable, but yes, if he is fucking the Cubs ability to get the best possible prospect, then good riddance.

Somebody is going to give him multiple years at a relatively high dollar. The kind of guy they're going to sign for next season would be a guy like Scott Baker.

You make it sound like a bad thing.

I truly believe they need to reallocate money. All the scouting, minor league management, etc has been shit for a long time. They always went on the cheap/understaffed route, even when they raised the team's payroll

I actually think a lot of the White Sox success can be chalked up to having a real good infrastructure, self scouting, etc

With that said, I would expect the payroll to rise going into 2014

Now it seems Theo is trying to pry Allen Webster, a AA pitcher for the Dodgers, for Douchebag Dempster. He isn't major league ready like Delgado but his heavy sinker could do well in Wrigley once he gets there in 2013 or 2014. His upside projects to be at least the good version of Jon Lieber.
