I believe that is true. The same goes with co-ownership of just about anything or living together.

Sarcasm I'm guessing?
No. It's true. You are more likely to get divorced if you live together prior to getting married. As for co-ownership of important things, it follows the same logic of living together, and also it really sucks to break up with someone and have to figure out who keeps the car or house.

Give him a couple packs of cigarettes and the dessert from your dinner tray for a week.

Ok, but that doesn't take into account all the people that end up not getting married because they found living together to be too difficult.

Actually it does. It's believed that people are actually more likely to incorrectly get married when they live together first because it's just the logical next step and the barriers for separation have already been increased significantly when you live together so you are less likely to see potential issues. Also, the "trial run" aspect of it cheapens the significance of what the marriage represents as the living situation is no longer tied to the promise that you will be together forever and instead is simply a continuation of what you had when you were dating.

Yes, some people found out that living together was not compatible, but you don't have to live together to learn this as most people on the path to marriage spend a lot of time together.

It's believed? Well that's scientific enough for me.

If you really want to play the "scientific card" here all I am doing is repeating information that was given to me in lectures by a guy with a PHD in psychology who is paid to know and study things such as this.

The results are clear. Cohabition before marriage leads to a better chance of divorce and a greater chance of having less quality of marriage. Now, the line is blurred further if you move in together after getting engaged but living with a significant other without being engaged is statistically worse than getting married and moving in together.

Sometimes women see it as a stepping stone to marriage, and men see it as economical or trying it out. At least that's how it went for a few couples I know. I wonder if my husband would have married me if we lived together first, I don't think he really knew what he was getting into.

Many men also see it as a way to avoid getting married and buy more time. In general, that's not a good sign. In reality, you should either know or not know by the time you are at that point. It's not like you are going to move in together and say "Well, she is good at taking out the trash, this will work".

Ok. That's fine. Then allow me to state that there are some certain individuals who have only a few months of relationship under their belts offering marital advice to people who have been in long term marriages/relationships?

Darkside, c'mon with the "certain individuals" thing. Be up front and give a name. You of all people shouldn't need to tiptoe around it like that. You obviously had somebody in mind when you made your initial attack post. And maybe you should've quoted those "certain individuals" specifically instead of globalizing the whole thing.

And if you're talking about me, let me remind you that I'm 31 and spent almost the entirety of my 20s in one relationship, so I think I have some perspective there.

Wow. Taking this personal much? Jesus. Well if I ever need advice on how to get as emotional as a woman I know who to go to.

So you spent the majority of your 20's in a successful relationship? Well then, Dr. Phil please teach us how to keep women happy.

There are a lot of divorced guys here too - like Doug, T-Bone, and Boyd. I'm sure you wouldn't make that kind of crack at those guys.

Stay classy, you fucking asshole.

You're the one cussing out, name calling and getting mean with me. Fuck I didn't really even specifically mean you in my op. But as always you get like this. Jesus you can be a real sally sometimes. What the fuck? I've never talked to you like you talked to me in this thread. You live for being all offended don't you.
