This looks like something Mac & Spiegs might discuss, but David Lee Roth was Van Halen...

Easy on that BITE SHARK. DLR was their best frontman. He wasn't the only reason Van Halen was good.

That's true. Eddie Van Halen had a rippin' guitar back then, too.

I hear of more "bi-curious" fans that say they like both just fine than outright Sam backers.

I have mellowed over the years (yes, I said I've mellowed .... go think about that sometime) and I don't out and out hate or decry the Sammy days. Hell, at one point I had high hopes for whosits from Extreme leading the band .... even I can very occasionally swing and miss that badly.

"Posters and T-shirts fighting back at the NCAA are in bad taste, IMO. Take the sanctions, you've earned em."

That's what @ChrisMorelli of the Centre County Gazette in State College, PA re-tweeted to @Dan_Bernstein moments ago.

I sent this response back to Bernsy...

"Penn State...No one to blame but themselves. Take the punishment. #StopPlaying"

Well, it would've been nice if they had mentioned a few times during the show that they had a very lengthy interview with Fucko Harris .... oh, wait .... they did ....

(that said, I like the avatar SomeGuy .... I took you off ignore just because of it  :D  )

I knew it! :P

Anyways, I wasn't listening when they warned us all about long interview....the audience changes every 20 minutes, you know! SO.... back 'atcha.

Kid, that wasn't news worthy, that's the farthest thing from news worthy. News worthy would be new victims stepping forward, something more happening to Penn St. punishment-wise, BoD power struggles or whatnot...An old, tired, senile Franco Harris babbling on about Penn. St is not newsworthy.

If you won't go for 'newsworthy', would you at least agree that it's something that's notable not just for the absurdity level of it, but was so both consistently as well as for such a length of time to do so?

Let's discuss important things now .... are you just pro Diamond Dave, or are you pro DD/VH (over Sammy)? I'll reveal myself (like I haven't done that dozens of time) by saying I'm pro DD/VH.

Franco is a clown, no doubt and deserves the ridicule...play some sound bites and get on with the show. I guess the whole "let me read this article verbatim" and "here is a 10 min interview from another radio show" type stuff just annoys me. You have a radio show? Do your radio show....not someones else's.

I'm pro Diamond Dave-era VH. Their best front man and their best music as well. Straight to the point, leapin' 15 ft. off the drum kit, kick you in the face type rock and roll. That is VH to me and always will be. 1984 was a good album but it was clear at that point that Eddie was gonna throw the VH train into a synth-sounding, sappy and soft type of stuff...he got his way and the results were clear when Sammy joined the band.

Now, I have no hate towards Hagar or even a lot of the Hagar-era music, it was just very, very different from what I preferred. It was soft, it lacked attitude and the earnest simplicity. The music became bloated and even sappy at times. Do any of the Hagar era songs rank in SomeGuys Top 15 VH Songs of All Time? A few, maybe 2-3...

Works for me .... one of the obvious SH/VH songs that comes to top of mind is "Right Now" .... always seemed like they were trying to force themselves away from rock-ready to pop-ready with that song .... not that it's bad, it gets as much replay as any of their charts .... just something I don't really think would have the same musical impact simply by putting Dave on lead vocals for it.

Alright, we agree on one thing. I'm sure I'll have you on ignore in mere minutes, but for now, good talk Russ.

I'm going to the throne now. If anyone cares.

"Right Now" was as edgy as any song in the Sammy Hagar-era of Van Halen. The video was also a "Video of the Year" winner, circa 1991, when MTV still played actual music videos.

I can't answer for sure who he's hurting, 'cause I don't get the impression at all that he's one of those asswipes that are out to grift people for $ ..... but when you put something like that out there for any and all to consume, how can this show pass the chance to point out how ridiculous it sounds (and in their case they get to shit on religious people, but m'eh, that's part of their gimmick).

Wouldn't say he is hurting anyone. It's certainly odd, but it's just some announcer no one is going to pay attention too anyway. It's perfect fodder for these two, but as you point out probably not worthy of the notoriety they are giving him.

I also find it odd. But, having seen Leman over the years, he's an interesting guy. I actually think he has potential to be an interesting broadcaster.

I don't think his sideline reports will consist of - "Scheelhaase has a groin pull. If only I could put hands on his groin, the Illini could have a chance here..."

But, he's weird. So, let's be in favor of getting some young kid fired from his first gig because we think he's too into his religion. I find it classless.

He's been weird since his playing days. I don't think it's news to anybody paying attention to the guy that he's a little different.

Boom Boom was a brief shooting star.

I still have the final Chet/Boom Boom show after Webio blew up and they had a drunken Ed O'Neill on swearing up a storm. Classic!

Brief mention of Harris by Goff equals compete Bernstein diatribe. Essentially verbal diarrhea.

Hate college sports. Hate agendas even more.
