I just got back, and don't want to ruin it for anyone. I agree with most that it wasn't as good as Dark Knight. But that's in my top-5 favorite movies ever, so it's tough to top. My friend and I had the same issue understanding Bane Capital. There's so much going on. Once the spoiler deadline hits, I'll have some more stuff.

I'd like to know how you felt about the part when the Penguin killed Robin.

When Danny Devito came out in his "Always Sunny" character, and cut the F bomb promo on Riddler.......that was awesome.

Went to the Woodridge IMAX at 9 AM. Might not have been a good decision since I worked til 2:30 am and didn't get to sleep until about 5:30 AM.

I thought it was a great movie. I will have to re-watch The Dark Knight to compare. I liked the performance of Joseph Gordon Levitt as Blake.

My question is...Who played the judge in the "court" scenes. He looks familer but I can't place him.

Dont even say Lord of the Rings, Spiderman, Superman or Matrix. I'm shocked.

1) Star Wars
2) Godfather
3) Lord of the Rings
4)Nolans Batman
5)Kevin Smith Jersey trilogy

I'm sorry dude. Maybe Godfather but Star Wars and Rings are disqualified. Nerd factor. Maybe my top 3 if I were 12. Where's Potter 1,2 and 3? Spy KIds 1 -3?

In a thread talking about movies based on comic books, on an internet messsage board...

...yeah, I'd play that card too.

I loved the movie. I thought it was just a little bit slow at the start but even then it was still entertaining. I really hope that the same director does another one after this. It's hard to imagine anyone doing Batman differently than how this one is done. I guess in 20 years it could work.

This trilogy is a movie experience unlike anything I've ever seen. The Dark Knight is magnified and modified by what happened to Heath Ledger. The in theater experience of this movie was magnified by the shooting. I went to an 11:30am show to watch this and halfway through the movie 2 people walked in and started looking in. One of them proceeded to walk towards the emergency exit and then return. I was 99% positive they were employees of the theater but I was going to make sure that this person returned back from the hallways of the emergency exit.

Everything was still great though. I wish I had watched The Dark Knight in the past week though.

Saw it again last night...because that's what I do...so, thoughts from the perspective of a repeat viewer:

...as others have mentioned, it's a bit slow out of the gates...it isn't until we see Batman that I start to take notice...

...the final forty minutes or so...still holds up as excellent and makes sitting through the first two hours over and over again worth it (much in the same way I was willing to sit through Transformers 3 so many times just for the payoff at the end)...

...then the final ten minutes say "oh, you thought we were kicking ass already? wait 'til you see this!"...

...the best compliment I can pay to this film is that, even after the third viewing, when I knew exactly what was going to happen, I was still moved emotionally. Three times I've seen this now and three times I've found a tear or two rolling down my face because of something that happened on the screen.

Was there anything extra after the credits? I didn't stay, so I might have missed it.

Also, where is Zack Digilio... err... Zack Wheaton's review? I'm sure he saw it.

Nothing during or after the credits...

...am I a jerk that I took some pleasure in watching half a theater full of people stick around only to be rewarded by the blue MPAA rating screen?

Maybe they were just sitting around to see if you would cry again during an action movie.

Just got back from seeing it. Anyone who says this one is better than The Dark Knight is on some serious bat-crack.

Maybe my mindset suffered from hearing bits and pieces of reviews and of being aware of the hype, but while I thought it was good, it didn't come close to matching the intensity of TDK.

I would say #2 was a better film, but #3 was a better movie.
(not being a smart ass in this case; I think it's a fair observation)

These paragraphs from a review I read seem to sum up my thoughts on the #3 vs #2:

Quote:
The ending sequence was actually indicative of a much larger problem with the film: the lack of artistic restraint, and a similar eye for small subtle touches that gave The Dark Knight its enduring personality. It wasn’t just the grand technical elements of that film that made it such a success, it was the little moments – like the Joker sanitising his hands before blowing up the hospital – and nothing as insistent as those last images of the follow-up film.

It might have been bigger and bolder, but ultimately, The Dark Knight Rises was a far less artfully crafted film, from plot details to the way the story was told in places, and when it comes down to it, it won’t be the large scale set-pieces that are remembered. It will be the performances, the little artistic touches and the story-telling that endure, and unfortunately for Christopher Nolan, he only really scores a hit on one of those three factors.

Two questions:

1. Are you bringing your girlfriend?
2. Are you trying to get her to dump you?

I may be there on Saturday.

I will just yell "I LOVE DAVID FREESE" really, really loud before the movie starts to signal that I have , in fact, arrived.

Yeah, too soon for the jokes. A guy I know posted "Hey, they have some incredible 3D technology in Colorado" on the Book and I am pretty much removing hiim from my list of friends.

Someone that I'm friends with on facebook posted "Am I the only one that hasn't seen The Dark Knight Rises"? One of his friends followed up saying, "I can think of 12 people that haven't".

The class of some people is amazing.

I appreciate and more or less understand those who don't react favorably to jokes about certain topics because of the horror associated with them.

I do not appreciate and never intend to understand why those people then make grand proclamations that any viewpoint other than theirs is reprehensible.
