Well, Jocketty is a pretty good GM.

If he ends up starting it's a good deal. Not sure how thatll work out in GAB

Jocketty is making a big fucking mistake then. One thing the Cubs did correctly over the last several years was leave marshall as a middle or setup guy. Starting or closing is a mistake.

What happened to the flame-thrower Chapman? Has his arm fallen off yet?

My bad - Walt never mentioned him as a starter. He said they have the flexibility to use him as a closer . . .

“We made the trade for him with the idea to extend him,” general manager Walt Jocketty said. “He’s a quality person. I think he’ll add a lot to our franchise . . . we have him for four years. If you look at the quality of his work, he’s one of the top setup guys in the game. And we have the flexibility if we want to use him in a few years as the closer.”

That sounds much better. Flexibility to use as a closer makes some sense, but his real value is in those innings connecting early relief/starters to closers. He's been one of the best around in that role.

Lefty Closers rarely work.

Marshall has been a great set up man for how long?

I think someone just pulled this completely out of their ass but I heard the name Billy Hamilton mentioned as one of the prospects. 103 stolen bases last year in Dayton.

He's got 80 SB's so far this year. Next hightest total in minors is 46.

It's clear that everyone who saw three of Travis Wood's pitches, and claimed he obviously sucked, were correct.
