In a year full of suck, he has been one of the bright spots. His strikeout to walk ratio is way better.
I'm going to take credit for Samardzjia turning this start around after hearing my scathing criticism of him Ralph. 4 walks is still too many in 6 innings.

MLB umpires are really terrible, the drumbeat for instant replay will continue to get louder.

Were MLB umpires always this bad?....it seemed like in my youth when the umpires were fat and old they appeared to be better at their job.

I guess that's effectively wild? I know he's better than he's been ball / strike wise but he his command still isn't very god.

What a disgusting display of bush leaguership by the Cubs after the home run. With all that jumping around at home plate, the playing of Go Cubs Go and all the hoopla surrounding an extra inning walk off home run you'd think they just won the fucking World Series. It was disgusting and all that is wrong with the team that hasnt won shit going on over a 100 years now. Dont They.Know.They.Are. 16.Games.Under.500?

From Yahoo sports:

Quote:
Maholm has allowed one run or fewer in six straight starts, becoming the first lefty in modern Cubs history to do so.

That's sounds crazy. Then I realized I couldn't name the last great Cubs lefty.

Of the top 50 Cubs pitchers in WAR (as a Cub), 10 are lefties.
Ted Lilly 14.4 war (2000s)
Ken Holtzman 15.0 war (1970s)
Dick Ellsworth 18.3 war (1960s)
Paul Minner 12.8 war (1950s)
Johnny Schmitz 16.1 war (1940s)
Larry French 20.5 war (1930s)
Lefty Tyler 10.3 war (1910s)
Hippo Vaughn 37.9 war (1910s)
Jack Pfiester 11.5 war (1900s)
Jake Weimer 14.6 war (1900s)

That's some bad lefty history
