Texas has good prospects.

Texas already has Ryan Dempster. His name is Roy Oswalt.

Ryan Dempster almost certainly will be traded by the Cubs today, as he's told Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago that he'll approve deals to the Yankees and Rangers in addition to the Dodgers. If the Dodgers want him, they're going to have to pay more than they might have thought a couple days ago. I'd rate the Yankees as more of a possibility than the Rangers but as the clock ticks toward 3 p.m. there are still a lot of possibilities. The Rangers have an interest in Garza, who is under control for next year, as they probably won't re-sign Colby Lewis, who is eligible for free agency and injured. It's possible that within the next 70 minutes the Cubs will complete trading their top three starters. That would make this a historic period for the franchise, either good or bad.
10 minute

Well, that's the idea...at least this season anyway. The Cubs want to trim that payroll big time, and it would be a moral victory if Theo & Jed were able to pull it off.

And yet it would still be a great day for the franchise.

Well that means you're going to have to step up and play better.

resubmitting tweets seems bad, but I am not certain of a way to show who is stating what succinctly other than just doing this....

JIM BOWDEN ‏@JimBowdenESPNxm
- David Kaplan of http://CSNChicago.com reporting that the Cubs and Tigers are working on an Alfonso Soriano trade

apologies if this offends anyone's posting sensibilities.

He checked with Dusty. Lots of letter writers in Detroit too.

According to Kaplan, every team in MLB is interested in every Cub player

And according to Phil Rogers, a trade might or might not happen.

Soriano not going to #Tigers, but staying, with #Cubs, at least for rest of this week. He will easily clear waivers, of course, in August.

Ok, told that Cubs have several balls in air. Soriano, Dempster, Garza, and handful of other possibles on big league roster and in minors.

There were about 15 0% Soriano is traded Tweets wrapped around this one

Thirty minutes. First time I have ever paid close attention at the trade deadline and hope guys get dumped. Usually if the team sucks, it never mattered. Mej Rojas may have been an exception.

Trading Mel Rojas and Brian McRae and Turk Wendell for One Dog Mark Clark and Manny Alexander was one of my favorite trades of all time. I had an irrational dislike of Brian McRae

Once Soriano clears waivers, how much would the other team have to pay to agree to trade him?

50 dollars?

Probably right. Dempster goes for close to nothing. Hope I am wrong.

We're under 20 minutes to go, and so far, no Ryan Dempster deal. Might he still be a Cub tonight vs. the Pirates?

I don't want possibilities, I want confirmations.
